Off to a GREAT Start!
As we think about learning, we know that children learn best when they know the routine and when they are in school. We've wanted to give families time to get used to the 7:30am start, the traffic patterns, and getting ready each day so we've have NOT been worried about tardies. We begin our day at 7:30am so it's iimportant that your child be INSIDE their classroom ready to learn. We've been purposeful to take advantage of each minute....our fifth grade students go to specials at 7:35am! Beginning Tuesday, September 3rd, students that arrive at the 7:30am bell or after will be counted tardy. Families will need to park their cars and walk their child into the front office to be signed in to the campus. Thank you in advance for doing your part in helping your child get to school on time.
Remember, as Hisle Hounds, we howl loud and proud!

Counselor's Corner
Minute Meetings/Classroom Lesson
Hi Hisle Families! I started going into the K-5 classrooms to meet with each student for about a minute to get to know them more. Additionally, I'll be in the classrooms in September for a whole class lesson, so be sure to talk to your child about what they learned and how their school counselor can help. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for supporting your child’s education.
Best, Mrs. Isaac, Hisle Counselor

Campus Operations
Lunch Visits
As you know, we asked families to refrain from coming to campus until after Labor Day for lunch so we could get settled into a routine. Children know their lunch tables and are making it through the line and managing their lunch boxes!
Beginning September 3rd:
- Families may join their child for lunch.
- Your chid will join you at one of the family tables to allow you special time.
- You may only bring food for your child.
- We ask that families come no more than 1x a month to allow children to socialize and talk with their peers. Lunch is a wonderful time to facilitate friendships and if parents are coming, it makes it challenging to find their friends!
Forgotten Items
- Water Bottles, Coats, Etc: Each day, we will make deliveries to the classrooms at 10am for any items families drop off prior to 10am. This will allow children to remain in the classroom learning! Items delivered after 10am, we will add to the lunch delivery cart! If there is something a child NEEDS for learning such as glasses, we will get them to the classroom as quickly as possible.
- Lunches: We will deliver lunches to the lunch room on a cart by the doors 5 minutes prior to lunches. Families can drop lunches off and put their child's name on the lunch box.

Storage Closet Help
Campus Deliveries
The office staff would love to work collaboratively with five individuals to sign up for one day each week at 10am to deliver dropped off items to individual classrooms and pick up any notes from classrooms. Classroom teachers can place ANY family correspondence, attendance notes, tardy slips in an envelope clipped to the outside door. Our volunteer would pick up the various notes to deliver to the office. Please e-mail robin.harvey@leanderisd.org if you are interested.
Number Corner
As a new campus, all of our instructional resources are NEW! This is good news, but we are working to organize the resources that instructional staff need. One of the items are 3x4 cards with questions that correlate to our math learning for each month. A volunteer would pick up a set of cards AND do the following at home.
- Cut apart the cards that are copied on 8x11 paper
- Organize each set of cards in order (there is a number at the bottom)
- Place them on the ring in order.
Leveled Book Room: 2-4 Volunteers
This is an opportunity to support the reading instruction on campus. We have assessments to be filed with each small book in our book room. Our reading specialist would meet with you briefly to explain the system and then you would spend time filing the assessments in each book bag! Please email megan.woodward@leanderisd.org
Educational Access Ambassador: District Committee!
We are excited to share the information about our newest committee, the Educational Access Ambassadors (EAA)! The Office of Educational Access (OEA) is seeking to establish an ambassador group of LISD parents/guardians during the 2024-2025 school year. Additional information and the application link can be found here. This application will remain open until Thursday, September 5th at 5 pm. If you have any questions, please contact Sue Neidecker.
Hisle Yearbook
Hisle Elementary will have a yearbook to document all the learning and fun! We are looking for a few family members to help organize the yearbook, and ALL of our families to help build the content. Please take a few moments to begin uploaded those first day pictures AND throughout the year! If you are interested in working on the yearbook, please email robin.harvey@leanderisd.org
DISMISSAL TIPS AND ADJUSTMENTS
CAMPUS ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL MAP
RED/GREEN CARDS
A gentle reminder to LEAVE your RED or GREEN cards in the window/dash unitl your child is in the car! It helps the staff member loading your child to check one more time!
GREEN CAR RIDERS
We've had some questions about buckling booster seats and child seats along with loading children on the driver side of the vehicle. Our systems are meant to help with safety and efficiency, If your child needs assistance with a child seat or booster, we ask that you pull forward ahead of the GREEN sign to check the buckle. This allows you to check AND the line to continue to load other children. We do NOT want any family to enter a road without ensure children are secured in the car. We ask that families shift younger children if possible behind the driver so that your child is not entering a car lane to get into the car.
Building the Why Around Dismissal Systems
Arrival and dismissal is centered on effective systems and safety. Remember, we start our day prompty at 7:30am AND we begin dismissal at 2:40pm. We appreciate families that are following the campus guideline regarding "if you drive a car to campus, you are a car rider" along with staying in your vehicle while staff assist with students. Every day is a day of improvement!
Here are a few why's regarding our "no parking at dismissal"
- Directing cars to one of three lines helps with efficiancy.
- As a car rider with a fast lane number, it provides an additional layer of checking that the appropriate adult is picking up the child
- As car and bus riders, we know that a child is going home to or with an adult.
- Our younger children are often challenging to see as they walk a parking lot to get into a car.
- Children will sometimes begin walking before making sure a car is not moving.
- Child supervision is challenging when families are mingling and visiting which causes safety concerns.
Thank you again for partnering with us!
How do get involved with our Hisle PTO?
Please make sure you've filled out the 24-25 volunteer information form to let us know opportunities you might be interested in helping with. It'll also allow you to share ideas about what events you'd like to see on campus!
We are still looking for a Staff Appreciation Chair and a VP of Programs and Events. There is no experience required for these positions... just a willingness to help out and support our staff and kids! Please reach out to HislePTO@gmail.com if you're interested, or would like more information!
