Gahanna Lincoln High School
2024-2025
A Message from Mrs. Williams
On Wednesday, October 9, we will administer the PSAT-NMSQT Exam at Gahanna Lincoln High School to all JUNIORS and to SOPHOMORES WHO HAVE "OPTED-IN" TO TAKE THE EXAM.
Freshmen, seniors, and sophomores who did not sign up to take the PSAT will not test on this day and, instead, will complete asynchronous work online from home for their classes.
What does the test look like? How long will it take?
Effective last year, the College Board has adopted a DIGITAL FORMAT for the PSAT. Students will take the PSAT on their own school-issued device in a testing platform called Bluebook. IMPORTANT: they MUST use a school-issued device; no personal devices will be permitted. Students from the Eastland-Fairfield Career Technical Schools will be provided with a school-issued device for the PSAT.
Thanks to the new digital format, the PSAT has become much more streamlined. Standard time for the PSAT is 2 hours 14 minutes. For students with accommodations for 50% Extended Time, the test takes 3 hours and 21 minutes, and for students receiving 100% Extended Time, testing will last 4 hours and 28 minutes ( lunch will be offered for 100% extended time students).
IMPORTANT: students receiving extended-time accommodations MUST STAY FOR THEIR ENTIRE ALLOTTED TIME. They will not be able to submit their test until their entire approved time has been exhausted.
Where is my testing location?
Testing locations will be released by the end of the day on Monday, October 7th at the latest. Testing locations will be posted on Google Classroom as well as in the front lobby of GLHS. Students will NOT be allowed to pick their seat - it will be assigned upon arrival to their testing room.
What time should I arrive at my testing location?
Please arrive at the usual time. When the 8:28 bell rings, you will report directly to your testing room. We cannot allow students to enter the testing room late, so please make sure you are on time.
What should I bring to the testing location?
A fully charged Chromebook!!!
An acceptable calculator, although the testing platform has an integrated calculator as well.
School ID photo or driver's license
Light snacks to eat during the break (but needs to be kept under your seat during testing)
What should I NOT bring to the testing location?
Cell phone or any electronic or wearable technology device (leave it in your locker or at home)
If you bring a cell phone or wearable technology, you will be asked to turn it off and put it in your bag along the wall. Having this on you during the test is a major test violation, so please do not bring it.
What happens after the test?
Students are free to go as soon as they have submitted their test, once their allotted time has expired (minimum: 2 hours and 14 minutes).
Buses will run on a normal schedule, so a quiet study hall will be made available for students who stay at school until 3:20PM.
Students leaving before 3:20PM will need to arrange their own transportation.
Students can eat lunch at school from 11:30AM until approximately 1:00PM
If you have any questions or concerns, please email Assistant Principal Kris Fuller at fullerk@gjps.org.

Venereal Disease and Sexual Education Instruction
In accordance with Ohio law, the District includes venereal disease education as part of the health curriculum. As outlined in Ohio Revised Code 3313.6011, venereal disease education must emphasize that abstinence from sexual activity is the only protection that is one hundred percent effective against unwanted pregnancy, sexually transmitted disease, and the sexual transmission of a virus that causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. As a result, the course material and instruction must do all of the following:
- Stress that students should abstain from sexual activity until after marriage;
- Teach the potential physical, psychological, emotional, and social side effects of participating in sexual activity outside of marriage;
- Advise students of the laws pertaining to financial responsibilities and potential consequences for the child, the child's parents and society in the event of unintended pregnancy;
- Stress that sexually transmitted diseases are serious possible hazards of sexual activity;
- Advise students of the circumstances under which it is criminal to have sexual contact with a person under the age of sixteen pursuant to section 2907.04 of the Revised Code;
- Discuss options for unintended pregnancies with an emphasis on adoption.
School Districts have the option of offering additional instruction beyond what is listed above,
and our District has chosen to do so by using the vendors and curricula listed below. In order for your student to receive this instruction, we require written permission from you as the parent/guardian.
PLEASE USE THE FORM BELOW TO GRANT PERMISSION FOR YOUR STUDENT TO RECEIVE THIS INSTRUCTION, OR TO EXCUSE YOUR STUDENT FROM THIS INSTRUCTION.

Beginning last school year, districts in Ohio have been navigating new legislation related to health and safety lessons that schools are required to include as a part of the curriculum. House Bill 123 and Senate Bill 288, as outlined in the chart below, provide instruction to students in grades K-12 on these topics.
We have developed our plan for delivery and have begun communicating with parents in preparation for instruction. There are many details related to both House Bill 123 and Senate Bill 288 and we wanted to provide clarifying information on both components of our curriculum.
House Bill 123 Instructional Materials - Sandy Hook Promise Say Something
Senate Bill 288 Instructional Materials - SPEAK UP and Second Step Crime Protection Unit
Both HB123 and SB288 require districts to provide families the opportunity to examine instructional materials and/or excuse their student(s) from taking part in the instruction.
For your convenience and due to a low response rate across the district, we have created this HB123 & SB288 Parent Opt-Out Form for families to use ONLY IF YOU WISH TO OPT OUT.
If you would like to read more about these pieces of legislation, you can access information using the links below.
