2025-2026 Enrollment for New Students
Do you have additional children in your household whom you would like to be at Citizens next year? Whether they are an incoming PreK or kindergarten student or at another school right now, they are now eligible to apply for the 2025-2026 school year!
Siblings of current students receive top priority in the lottery and on waitlists.
This application period also applies to any neighbors or friends who would like to join our school family, so please help us spread the word!
How: Visit SchoolAppKC, answer a few questions, add Citizens as a school, and submit!
When: To be included in the lottery, apply before March 1st
Who: Next year’s PreK (must be 4 years old by 7/31/25) or kindergarteners (must be 5 years old by 7/31/25), any other students up to 8th grade
Current students should not re-enroll using SchoolAppKC. ReEnrollment for current PreK-7th grade students will begin February 1st through your Parent Portal, so stay tuned for additional details after winter break!
Second Semester Clubs
It is time to start thinking about second semester after-school clubs! Clubs, which will begin in February, meet after school once a week for ten weeks on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays until 5 pm. The cost is $100, and there are limited scholarships available for students of families who qualify for free and reduced lunch.
We would love for you to share your hobbies and passions with the students! Our clubs are taught by school staff, caregivers, and community members, and some examples of popular clubs from previous years are cake decorating, chess, cooking club, yoga, Dungeons & Dragons, crafting, soccer, and Spanish! Club sponsors are paid $600 at the end of the semester for attending a sponsor orientation and then teaching ten weeks of clubs. If you would like to be a club sponsor, please fill out this club proposal form.
The Counseling Corner (from Ms. Katie)
As the holiday season approaches, it’s a great time to gather as a family and sort through toys, making room for new memories while embracing the spirit of giving. Try to turn this into a meaningful activity rather than a chore. Sit together, and allow your child to choose a few toys they’re willing to donate. If they find it hard to part with something, ask them to share a favorite memory of the toy. This reflection can help them say goodbye meaningfully.
Empower them to take part in the whole process: from choosing which toys to donate to placing them in a bag, and even helping to deliver them to a donation center or thrift store. This hands-on involvement, along with conversations about helping others, can help children see the holidays as a time of kindness and generosity.
