Catching Up w/ Mr. C
Delsea High School - May 2024
Hello Crusader Nation!
As the spring weather graces us with its warmth, it's evident that our students at Delsea are also blooming! April brought with it a seemingly unending parade of exciting events, from the senior trip, the baseball and softball trips down south, DECA competing in California, and the consistent exceptional efforts of our students in the classroom.
There were so many exciting events academically, athletically, in extra-curricular areas, and in the community. I love watching our students thrive! When we see Delsea Pride all around us, it’s a testament to the way in which you are bringing up your children, the commitment of the staff, and the partnership that we have together. I could not be more proud of the way our students represent us! May will be no different. This month brings forth a plethora of events, including Achievement Night, concerts, the People's Choice Awards, and the highly anticipated Art Show! It promises to be a bustling yet immensely fulfilling month.
Now to address the end of the year. It seems hard to believe, but we are only about 6 weeks away from graduation and summer vacation! Encourage your student to keep working through the end of the year and, if they are in academic or attendance danger, to reach out to their guidance counselor and see where they stand. Remember you, as their parent or guardian, can check almost all of the important information regarding your student via OnCourse, but remember the guidance counselors, teachers, and administration are always an email or a phone call away. April may be hard to top, but let’s make May even better! Crusaders finish strong!!

Student and Family Assistance
Delsea Regional School District has partnered with Jefferson Health to assist students and their families by providing resources to local, federal and non-profit social service programs that aid in alleviating obstacles such as food or housing insecurity, as well as financial or emotional distress. This role serves as a bridge between existing programs to eligible families within the district, enabling community members to receive assistance that is available to them.

Weekly Food Packs
Delsea Regional School District has partnered with the Food Bank of South Jersey to provide shelf-stable meals to students who attend school at Delsea or sending districts. These meals which come in convenient packages, will be distributed every week at the high school. Caregivers can drive up to the cafeteria doors to receive the food packs or students can pick up the packs to take home.
DECA Takes On Cali
The DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC) marks the end of the DECA year, bringing together over 20,000 high school students, teacher-advisors, business professionals, and alumni for a few days of DECA thrills. Students showcase their preparedness for college and careers through participation in DECA's Competitive Events Program, which is recognized by various industries and covers subjects like marketing, finance, hospitality, management, and entrepreneurship.
Italian Students take Philadelphia
Students from the Italian 3H and 4AP classes embarked on an exciting journey to Philadelphia. This educational expedition allowed them to immerse themselves in the rich Italian heritage and traditions. During their visit, they explored the exhibits at the Italian Immigration Museum, indulged in a delightful cheese and salami tasting experience at DiBruno Brothers, and savored a delicious lunch at Gran Caffe L’Aquila while conversing fluently with the waiter in Italian. Witnessing the students actively apply their Italian language skills was truly a memorable experience.

Parent Portal
The OnCourse Parent Portal for the 2023 - 2024 annual student registration is now OPEN! Each year, parents/guardian of existing and newly enrolled Delsea High School students must update several annual registration requirements using the OnCourse Connect Parent Portal at https://www.oncourseconnect.com/login. Please note that parents and students will not be able to access their grade portal until they fill out the annual registration.
Students and Chromebooks
This year we are going to encourage students to check and use their Delsea email more regularly. WHY? Because every student has a Chromebook and teachers use Google Workspace tools for classroom efficiency! It’s an easy way for them to communicate with their teachers. It’s a great way for students to stay up to date with important announcements from teachers and the school. This can include information for clubs, sports, cancellations, reminder of events, and so much more.
Lockers
Lockers will be assigned upon request. Once your student has completed the Google Form, they will get their locker information emailed to them.
