Welcome to June. One year ago, I was bidding a fond farewell to the SAM School community whom I had grown very fond of, having been a proud member for 18 years. As I reflect back on this “first” year at Gish, I want to pay tribute to all those people who have been part of our success.
We have fantastic students in BOTH programs, who are very dedicated to their academics, fine arts, and athletics.
We also have tremendous staff at all grades, who are very diverse on their own, and are highly skilled in meeting diverse learning needs. Our teachers and support staff at Gish School are top-notch!
Our parent group is both knowledgeable and so very supportive. We appreciate their assistance and cooperation.
Lastly, we are fortunate to have excellent leadership at the District level with St. Albert Public Schools.
I sincerely appreciate the fantastic team of individuals that we collaborate with each and every day. Thank you to our stakeholders for choosing E. S. Gish School, and for your assistance in making Gish School so successful!
The end of the year is near. Although learning has been severely disrupted by the COVID-19 Pandemic, we want to remind students that even though we’re doing on-line instruction, we still have nearly 10% of the school year remaining, and must continue to work hard. Gish School has a long history of outstanding achievement; let’s keep up the good work!
We are currently planning for the 2020-21 school year. Of course, it is up to the Chief Medical Officer and the Alberta Government how our return to school is going to look. We are optimistic that regular in-person schooling will be in place right from the first day. If so, students will start regular face-to-face schooling on August 31.
We graciously say goodbye to our Grade 6 Global class who are moving on to Lorne Akins for their junior high years. Also, we bid a fond farewell to our Grade 9 leaders; some of whom have been at Gish School for an entire decade of excellence. We trust that you will continue to experience success. Please know that we are proud of you, even from a distance!
