VMMS Community Connection
Week of November 18, 2024 - November 22, 2024
Greetings, Viper Community!
It was a tremendous week at VMMS. Our Vipers rocked their Student-Led Conferences as they shared their areas of strength and growth to develop an action-oriented goal. On behalf of the Vista Magnet teachers, thank you for being a partner in your child's educational journey. Your collaboration and support is valued beyond measure.
During the minimum days this past week, your Viper participated in The Viper Experience: BELONG & ENGAGE in the following school-wide activities:
- Our 1st (EVER!) Viper Rallies for each grade level with village competitions, fall sports recognition and lots of school spirit!
- A collaborative Escape Room experience testing Viper's critical thinking and logic
- Exploration on our Thrively platform with a focus on Managing Impulsivity
- A lesson on Digital Citizenship where students identified their values and reflected the impacts of media and tech on their values
- Grade level assembly for The Power of Words brought to us by Restorative Justice practitioners. In addition, students engaged in a lesson about words that harm vs. heal and how we can all act through addressing any hate speech with a strategy called recognize, interrupt, and repair.
Please ask your student which activity resonated with them and why. We were impressed by our Vipers efforts to patriciate in our array of BELONG & ENGAGE activities that support the continued improvement of our collective school community. We are actively supporting the development of each Viper's mindset and skillset to be a positive and contributing member at VMMS.
Please call the office at (760) 726-5766 or visit the office M-F from 8:00-4:00 if you have any questions or need assistance.
Thank you!

Important Reminders on Cell Phones/Headphones/Earbuds Expectations
We want to ensure that all our Vipers are focused on their learning and being EPIC. Please help your Viper remember our expectation for Personal Electronic Devices found in our Student Handbook:
- Students must keep cell phones and personal electronic devices turned OFF and in their backpacks during school hours and all school sponsored events. (Students may NOT use these items in the restrooms/locker rooms)
- Headphones or earbuds may not be used or worn on campus at any time, except with teacher permission for academic purposes while under teacher supervision in a classroom.
- Only upon prior TEACHER written/verbal approval to the administration shall students be permitted to use personal electronic devices for academic purposes.
- **Any use of such devices for non-educational purposes will have them confiscated and will face disciplinary action. (Air Pods, included)**
- Cell Phones/Ear Buds/Headphones/Personal Devices/Smart Watches – Students who bring these devices to school do so at their own risk. VMMS is not responsible for a device that is stolen or damaged.
- If students must call their parents, they MUST use an office phone or ask permission to use a Teachers Classroom phone.
