Greetings Pirate Families,

The beginning of every school year marks a fresh start and a new chapter in the lives of our students and we are delighted to have your children as part of our school community.

The first week of school will be filled with excitement, learning, reconnecting with each other and meeting our new Pirates. Our dedicated teachers have been tirelessly working to ensure this school year will be one filled with engaging and meaningful learning experiences.

At Norterra Canyon, we believe that a strong partnership between home and school is crucial to our students' success. We encourage all families to be active partners in their children's education. There are many opportunities for you to get involved and connect with other NC families.

We invite you to join our Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA). The PTSA plays a vital role in supporting our school through fundraising, organizing events, and providing resources for our students and teachers. Your involvement in the PTSA is a great way to meet other "Pirate" families and make a positive impact on our school.

Additionally, we encourage fathers and father figures to participate in the Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) program. This program provides a unique opportunity for men to engage in their children's education by volunteering at the school and being positive role models for our students, along with supporting our school community.

We also have numerous school events planned throughout the year, from academic showcases to family fun nights. These events are wonderful opportunities to meet other families, build relationships, and create lasting memories together. We hope to see you there!

Families are invited to join us the last Friday of each month for morning announcements and celebrations beginning at 8:15am.

As a reminder:

• August will be hot, don't forget to pack your water bottle!
• If you are dropping off your student, please use the front drop off lane along the blue curb.
• For safety reasons, students may not walk through the parking lot alone. If you are parking, you will need to escort your student to the gate.
• 1st-8th Grade, the 1st Day of School is drop off only. Parents may use the front drop off lane OR walk their child to the front gate. We will have staff members welcoming students and helping them find their classroom.
• Kindergarten & New to NC Parents: You are invited to a Welcome Aboard PTSA breakfast, (see below)
• Arrival Times: Gates open at 8:00am.
• Gates lock & instruction begins promptly at 8:15am.
• If your child is eating breakfast, breakfast service ends at 8:15am. Please plan accordingly as students need to be in their classroom for learning by 8:15am.
• Dismissal Time: 3:00pm (reminder students may not walk through the parking lot unsupervised. If you are parking you will need to meet your child at the gate. We highly encourage families to use the drop off /pick up lane.

Parents of student athletes who are interested in trying out for a sport this school year should start by creating an account on (Aktivate) www.registermyathlete.com. Step by step instructions can be found HERE. Once an account is created, all forms can be accessed through the website and completed forms should be uploaded through Register My Athlete. These documents need to be completed/updated each school year.

Fall season will start with baseball and softball. Tryouts will be held August 14th & 15th. All paperwork must be completed and uploaded in Register My Athlete (RMA) prior to tryouts. In addition, athletes need to complete the Brainbook Concussion Course (link in RMA) and upload a copy of the completion certificate (only has to be done once).

*ALL athletes must have an updated physical completed prior to tryouts.
