Restorative Practices (Part 1)
Just like any healthy family, school, or community, Wildwood has a plan and process for restoring relationships when harm has been done. Just as students need coaching when they encounter academic challenges, they also need guidance for managing social difficulties when they arise.
Next week, I will describe our 4-step Restorative Practices plan in detail, but for now, I would like to share with you the programs and measures we have in place to prevent problems before they occur. You've likely heard the axiom, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". Here at Wildwood, we find this to be true, and we are proud to highlight the proactive measures that are in place at our school which help keep physical and relational harm at a minimum on our campus:
- ROAR Core Values
- PTA Sponsored Events and Assemblies that Build Community
- A Proactive and Responsive Office Team
- Tremendous Teachers
- A Caring and Skilled Campus Supervision Team
- Parent Volunteers
- Engaging Lessons
- Unity Day (Oct.)
- Inclusive Schools Week (Dec.)
- SEL Lessons
- Counseling / Coaching
- Conduct Assemblies
- School Resource Officer Support
- Morning Greeters
- Pep Rallies
- Staff Training
- School Site Council Team
- Tigerific Tickets
- Lunch with the Principal
- Academic, Work Habits, and Citizenship Award Recognition Programs
- Strong School-Home-Student Communication
- A Community Committed to Care
That's quite a list! We appreciate EVERY member of our our school community who contributes to the amazing culture of care that pervades our campus.
Warmly,
Mr. Lynch

In order to properly plan classes and staffing for the 2024-2025 school year, we are requesting that ALL families who currently have a child attending Wildwood Elementary please complete THIS FORM. If you have more than 1 child currently attending Wildwood, please complete a separate form for each child. This form should take less than 1 minute to complete.

Help Us Retain Our Crossing Guard – Walk or Ride to School!
The City of Thousand Oaks will be monitoring our Arboles/Velarde crosswalk usage in February and March to assess the need for crossing guards in future school years. To ensure we meet the required threshold during the count (which will occur on an undisclosed school day during these months), we encourage as many students as possible to walk, bike, or ride scooters to school and utilize this crosswalk during this period.
Your participation helps demonstrate the importance of maintaining safe routes to school for our students. Thank you for your support in keeping our community safe and thriving!
STEAM Assembly Rescheduled - Please volunteer
Our STEAM Museum Assemblies at Wildwood Elementary have been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 26! This program will turn our multi-purpose room into a state-of-the-art, hands-on children’s museum focused on STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). Students will rotate through stations to experience robots, virtual reality, 3D printing, art, engineering, and more!
Every student will have the opportunity to participate in this one-of-a-kind experience, and we need parent volunteers to supervise some of these self-run stations at these assemblies. Please take a look at THIS form and consider signing-up to serve at one (or more) of our seven grade level assemblies.

FUN & Easy Volunteer Opportunities
We are excited to share two wonderful opportunities to volunteer at Wildwood and make a positive impact on our students’ school experience!
Create: Arts & Crafts with Students
- When: Thursdays, 9:15 AM - 10:45 AM
- What: Join us for a fun, hands-on session where students get to express their creativity through arts and crafts. This is a highlight of their week and a great way to connect with them!
Take a Look, Take a Book
- When: Last school day of the month, 9:15 AM - 10:45 AM (first recess)
- What: Help students check the lost and found and pick out a book to take home. This event encourages reading while giving students a sense of ownership and excitement about books.
If you’re interested in volunteering for one or both events, please let me know as soon as possible. We would love to have your help in creating these memorable experiences for our students.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a difference at Wildwood!
