Empower All People to be Healthy, Lifelong Learners
Kia kaha - do your best * Kia māia - be courageous * Kia manawanui - have a heart
Ko Puketapu Matou
E Ihowā Atua,
O ngā iwi mātou rā
Āta whakarangona;
Me aroha noa
Kia hua ko te pai;
Kia tau tō atawhai;
Manaakitia mai
Aotearoa
God of Nations at Thy feet,
In the bonds of love we meet,
Hear our voices, we entreat,
God defend our free land.
Guard Pacific's triple star
From the shafts of strife and war,
Make her praises heard afar,
God defend New Zealand.
Did you spot our mistake?
Kia uru uru mai
A hauora, a haukaha, a haumaia
Ki runga, ki raro, ki roto, ki waho
Rirerire hau paimarire
Enter forth
The winds of life
The winds of strength
The winds of courage
As above, below, within, without
Peace be upon us
Say hello to...
Team Rimu!

The Bike Track is Open!
Scootering is also great, and we will always love those ramps!
TOTARA BEACH WALK
We talked about how we were going to take some natural resources from our beach and that this time it was OK because there were so many rocks. We told the children that it is important to give thanks for any taonga you take to use and Mrs Harvey said a Karakia thanking the mountain and the sea and Ranginui (the Sky Father) and Papatuanuku (the Earth Mother) for providing these gifts that we were going to use.
Each child collected two rocks each, they had to look for flat rocks about the size of their hand (as they had to carry them back to school!). Over the next few weeks we are going to paint the rocks with our school values, school logo, school whakapapa in our school colours and the next time we go for a walk we are going to hide them in the community for them to become part of the #taranakirocks community.
Who knows where our little stones may end up?

Thank you Natural Fare!
Thank you to Leah Barnard for facilitating this donation, you are amazing.
Already the children in Totara 3 have enjoyed smelling eating and learning the names of the plants you donated. THANK YOU!
Digital Learning in Kauri
Huge thanks to Mr Quince for his help in setting up all those devices and all those email addresses so everyone has access.
In Kauri we have been learning how to use our devices appropriately and how to use Google Classroom. Here we are working on our Reading. We have reading activities that have been shared with us by our teachers on Google Classroom. We check our activities on our device and then share them with our teachers. It is helpful that we have the chrome books because we can access activities that help us to learn. When we share to the teachers there is no waiting in line. We can just send it and then they respond to us.
By Charlotte, Bella and Abbey.
Water is Brain Juice
We have two new water fountains at school which have been getting lots of use!

Sick Kids?
If your child has vomited or had diarrhoea, please keep them at home for at least 24 hours after their last sick poo or spew.
Year 7&8 Immunisation
Next month nurses from Taranaki District Health Board are coming to our school to save parents time and trips to their GP to administer important vaccinations:
- Year 7 students receive "Boostrix" which protects against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (whooping cough).
- Year 8 students receive vaccination for Human papillomaviruses (HPV), a group of common viruses, some of which, among other things, cause types of cancer. There are more than 150 types of HPV, at least 14 of these are high-risk types linked to cancer.
Information and permission sheets have gone out to all Year 7 and 8 students and need to be returned by Thursday next week.
Important - Please send completed forms back to school - regardless of whether your child is going to be immunised at school or not.
Sports Update
Touch: This is fantastic. Thanks to everyone who has made it such a success this season.
Hockey: We do not have enough players for our own teams at this stage however I am communicating with North Taranaki Junior Hockey to see if we are able to join some other teams/schools. Intermediate Players we have the opportunity to combine with Sacred Heart. They have a coach and are good to go so that is awesome. Watch this space :)
Miniball: Years 0-2 We need 3 more players so that we can have 2 teams. We also need a coach for each of those teams.
Years 3-4 We have 2 teams which is great but need 2 coaches please/
