a great year to be a jaguar!
A Note from the Director
We have concluded another week, and the Thanksgiving break is almost upon us! We have a few celebrations this week so let’s jump right in!
We want to congratulate our two feeder middle schools on their advancement and placement of students into the TMEA MS Region Band. Combined, our Dahlstrom and McCormick Band programs had 37 students earn a spot in the Region Band! Super proud of our team of directors and our future Jaguars Band Members!
This Friday and Saturday we hosted the Central Texas audition camp for the Santa Clara Vanguard. This audition camp was attended by students from all across Texas that were interested in becoming a member of this Drum and Bugle Corps. It was a great camp and we continue to build our relationship with this world-class organization!
We wrapped up this past weekend with the TMEA Region Orchestra Winds & Percussion Auditions. We want to congratulate these students for auditioning and earning a chair in the TMEA Region 18 Orchestra:
Julia Brandt, Flute
Ethan D’Amura, French Horn
Parker Taylor, Tuba
As we look forward to this last week before the Thanksgiving Holiday we want to make sure everyone is looking at their calendar as we have several events rapidly approaching. TMEA District/Region Band Audition will be held at Akins HS on December 2nd & 4th. The students have been working hard in preparation for this and we want to wish them the very best! Details will be distributed once we receive them from the audition site host.
Also, December 4th is the Buda Christmas Parade! Once we have more details we will push these out to everyone! Make sure it is on your calendar as we want every band and guard member there! This is an incredible opportunity for us to give back to our community that supports us so well!
We are working to lock in our Christmas Concert date as there was a conflict with the TMEA Region Band Clinic/Concert on December 10. This week we will verify that the new date we have selected has no major conflicts. Once confirmed, we will publish and post the new date on our calendar this week!
We are excited that we are starting up our Winter Guard season! We are also in the beginning phases of building a MS Guard program at Dahlstrom and McCormick, our two feeder middle schools! This is SUPER exciting and will help us continue to advance our already incredible guard program even further! Anyone interested in being part of the JHS Winter Guard should be on the lookout for information coming from Mr. Duffy & Mr. Washington soon!
This week we will have our Band Council begin decorating the band hall for the holiday season! If you are a student and are interested in helping please speak with your Band President, Ivy Clamons, as she will be organizing this process!
Also, this week we will be cleaning the band hall and moving into Concert Band mode! All items left in the band hall from this marching season MUST BE REMOVED!!!! Anything left will be gathered and either recycled or donated to a worthy charity! There is a giant pile of clothing, shoes and water jugs! TAKE YOUR STUFF HOME!!
Let’s make it a great week and as always: It’s a Great Day to be a Jaguar!
