Summit School Newsletter
INNOVATIVE TEACHING. EXPERT EDUCATORS. THRIVING STUDENTS.
August 18, 2023
From the Head of School...
Dear Summit School Families,
I hope this newsletter finds you and your loved ones in good health and spirits. I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible strength of our diverse Summit School community and share an exciting initiative that promises to enrich our educational environment even further.
At Summit School, we celebrate the uniqueness of each individual and the richness that diversity brings to our campus. Our commitment to fostering a culture of inclusivity remains unwavering, and it is heartening to see our students grow and thrive in an environment that embraces different perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences.
Last school year, our dedicated Diversity & Inclusivity Committee worked to curate a calendar of monthly awareness topics that center around essential themes such as cultural heritage, mental health, and environmental sustainability. This initiative aims to deepen our students' understanding of these critical issues and encourage meaningful conversations within our school community.
I am pleased to include the calendar of monthly awareness topics in this newsletter, which outlines the themes we will explore each month. You will find that these topics align with our values of promoting empathy, understanding, and positive change. I encourage you to review the calendar and engage with your children in discussions related to these themes.
However, the success of our endeavor does not solely rest on the shoulders of our school faculty and staff. We firmly believe that our school families possess a wealth of knowledge, experiences, and connections that can contribute significantly to our efforts. Therefore, I am reaching out to you to invite your active participation in shaping the educational events that will revolve around these awareness topics.
If you have any resources or connections that you believe could enrich our students' learning experiences, we would be deeply grateful for your collaboration. Whether it's suggesting guest speakers, recommending reading materials, proposing interactive workshops, or sharing personal stories, your contributions can make a substantial impact on our students' understanding and appreciation of these important topics.
Please take a moment to reflect on how you might be able to contribute to our upcoming educational events. If you have ideas or resources you would like to share, please feel free to reach out. Your involvement will undoubtedly make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students.
Thank you for your continued support in making Summit School a nurturing and inclusive educational environment for all. We are grateful for another enriching year of growth and learning together.
Warm regards,
Dr. Nardi

Importance of Regular Attendance for Academic Success
As we embark on another exciting academic year, we would like to take a moment to highlight the significant role that regular attendance plays in the success of your child's educational journey.
At Summit School, we are dedicated to providing an enriching and supportive learning environment that nurtures the intellectual, social, and emotional growth of every student. One of the key factors contributing to this growth is consistent attendance. Students who attend school regularly have the opportunity to engage actively in classroom discussions, collaborative projects, and hands-on learning experiences that are fundamental to their development.
We recognize that there are times when your child may not be feeling their best. Please know that the health and well-being of our students are of utmost importance to us. If your child is under the weather, we encourage you to keep them home to rest and recover. Our priority is to maintain a safe and healthy environment for all members of our school community.
However, we kindly request your assistance in minimizing other absences throughout the school year. Research consistently shows a strong correlation between attendance and academic achievement. When students are present in the classroom, they not only benefit from direct instruction but also build important skills such as time management, responsibility, and active participation.
To help us track attendance and support our students' progress, our FACTS system will automatically generate emails based on tardies and absences throughout the academic year. These emails are intended to serve as gentle reminders, not as reprimands. We understand that life can sometimes present unexpected challenges, and our aim is to collaborate with you in fostering your child's consistent attendance.
Your cooperation and partnership in this matter are highly valued. By ensuring your child's regular attendance, you contribute to their overall growth and success. Together, we can create an environment where each student thrives academically and personally.
Thank you for your understanding and support. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our administrative team. We look forward to a productive and rewarding school year ahead.
