Election Day Civility
You should consult the Cook County Clerk's website (click here) to determine the location of your polling place.
Avoca West and Marie Murphy will be polling places Tuesday. The District was not offered a choice in this matter and would prefer this was not the case. Fortunately, polling locations at each school have a separate entrances and exits that do not require or easily enable voters to go into the schools during the school day.
That being said, there has never been an incident of violent or uncivil behavior associated with election day at our schools and we will be remaining vigilant to keep it that way.
For anyone handing out campaign literature to people entering to vote, please remember that there are rules regarding this that should be confirmed with the poll workers prior to handing anything out. Additionally, no one should be handing out campaign literature to people dropping off or picking up their students. Campaign literature should only be handed out at designated locations and only to people there for the purposes of voting.
While in-person behavior during recent weeks has remained civil, let's remember that our children are witness to our behavior, and never more so than on election day. Generations have worked hard so we have the democracy we have, and we should treat it with respect by treating each other with respect, including the language we use to address one another and speak of one another.

Final Quarter Reminders
When we return from Spring Break, we will be heading into the final quarter of school for the year. There is a lot going on during this time, and we work to strike a balance with students and families between maintaining our academic focus with students (see our Portrait of a Graduate - "Academically Prepared") and our social engagement with students (see "Balanced").
From IAR testing to field trips to Field Day to 5th and 8th grade parties to graduation, there is a lot of activity in the Spring, and for our students to have a fulfilling final quarter, we need your help.
- Make sure your student's attendance stays strong and consistent
- Make sure your student gets plenty of sleep
- Consider volunteering for a class party or PTC event
- Remember: The last day of student attendance is June 6 (unless we use an emergency day)
