Where Learning is Personal
Friday, March 21, 2025
From the Principal
It’s been another fantastic week at school, filled with achievements worth celebrating. I want to highlight the incredible work that went into our school play—it has been phenomenal! Thank you to Mrs. Lawson, Mr. Wdowriaz, our talented students, and the many supportive parents who contributed to such a polished production. The dedication, teamwork, and creativity on display make it a true highlight for our school community.
Our volleyball teams are also off to a strong start, showing great effort and teamwork. I commend our students for their hard work during the IAR exams this week. These assessments can be taxing, but our students stayed focused and determined. Looking ahead, 8th-grade students will take the Illinois Science Assessment next week, and we are confident they’ll continue to show their best effort.
In our classrooms, the learning has been active, creative, and collaborative—reminding us of how patience and perseverance pay off. From primary students engaging with older role models during games and activities to intermediate students tackling new math and language arts challenges and middle school students managing the demands of academics and extracurriculars, it’s clear that everyone is working hard while learning how to support one another. Whether it’s practicing new skills, completing science projects, or preparing for the upcoming track season, our students are showing that resilience and positive routines make a difference.
As we prepare for spring break, next week’s Word of the Week is “Patience.” Much like families spending extra time together during vacations, we’re reminding students to take a breath and be patient with one another. It’s the perfect time to reflect on how staying calm, kind, and focused helps us all finish strong. Prioritizing sleep, self-care, and healthy habits will ensure students return refreshed and ready for a successful final stretch of the school year.

Primary Team News
Learning and playing fun games with student helpers from the Central School. Great role models!
Intermediate Team Ideas
This week, third graders started a new chapter in math, working on area and perimeter. In language arts, students continued to practice forming and using affixes through games and crafts. This week in 3/4 Brach the students read some really engaging fiction stories. They read Part 1 and 2 of Alien Kids, which delves into the lives of Frankie and Katie who are part of a new colony in space that was created in response to the damage inflicted upon earth due to climate change. They also read Down to the River where a group of social media enthusiasts help save a river ecosystem by filming evidence of snakes being released onto the riverbank with the sole purpose to decrease the Florida Bog Frog population. In 5th grade, students began a science project where they are researching a global environmental issue and what different communities around the world are doing to help solve the problem. They also learned different strategies for multiplying a mixed number by another mixed number.
