In addition to his academic pursuits, William has a passion for reading fantasy books, particularly the Shadow and Bone series, and enjoys playing the video game Type://Soul. He even serves as the leader of a clan in the game, where he regularly helps other players progress and succeed.
William's academic accomplishments are equally impressive. He has achieved a perfect score of 5 on all of the AP tests he has taken. William is eager to major in computer science at a California State University. He hopes to pursue a career in software engineering or game development and admires programmers for their skill and ability to create innovative solutions to complex problems.
Gillian Fisher is an exceptional student who has consistently excelled academically in Honors and AP courses, earning Principal's Honor Roll throughout her high school years. She has been an active member of the Leadership program for all four years of high school, and during her junior and senior years, she served as the ASB Secretary on the Executive Board, leading her team to receive the Outstanding Leadership Program Award for two consecutive years. As part of ASB, Gillian has worked tirelessly at multiple school and offsite events, including band, choir, sports, and fundraisers, showcasing her leadership skills and commitment to her school community. She is also an accomplished athlete and has received numerous accolades, including the JV Girls Volleyball Golden Raider Award, JV Volleyball Scholar Athlete Award, Hacienda Academic all League Award Varsity Volleyball, Varsity Girls Volleyball Golden Raider Award, and Hacienda Academic All League Award for JV Basketball.
Outside of school, Gillian has been an active volunteer for the Rowland Unified School District's Holiday Basket set up since she was in 4th grade, showcasing her dedication to her community since a young age. She has also volunteered for the RUSD Summer Arts and Buck Board Parade and worked as an instructor for summer sport youth camps and Breaking Down the Walls Program.
As she moves on to the next phase of her life, Gillian plans to attend UC Davis as undeclared, with the aim of exploring different career options and discovering her true calling. She is considering a minor in business and is determined to continue to excel academically and make a positive impact wherever she goes.

SkillsUSA State Conference
Rowland High School is proud to announce a series of remarkable achievements at the recent SkillsUSA California State Conference and Competition, where our students showcased their exceptional skills and commitment to excellence.
The Mobile Robotics team, guided by Professor Michael Frausto, saw Wan Ling Lin and Celina Poon earning a prestigious bronze medal. This achievement is notably Wan Ling Lin's second consecutive year bringing a medal home, underscoring her dedication and skill in the competitive robotics arena.
In their debut year, Professor Cabot’s Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Team clinched a gold medal, continuing their success streak from the regional competitions. The team, consisting of seniors Demetrius Cervantes, Kai Pablo, and freshman Valeria Vazquez Gonzalez, has qualified for the national competition, where they aspire to extend their winning streak.
Adding to the accolades, Jacob Swanson, a student of Mr. Martin in Motorcycle Service Technology, secured a bronze medal in his first full year competing in this challenging category, demonstrating both talent and hard work.
In a historic first for Rowland High School, Amber Wu has been elected as the State Officer for Region 03, the largest region in the state. Amber, following in the footsteps of her sister Ruby Wu, a former winner, will represent her peers in the 2024-2025 school year. Her successful campaign at the state conference marks an unprecedented achievement for RHS, bringing leadership honors to our school.
This year, Rowland High School sent its largest group yet, nine student delegates, to participate in the SkillsUSA Delegate Program. The program plays a crucial role in achieving the SkillsUSA mission, enabling delegates to make informed organizational decisions through training in parliamentary procedure and decision-making processes. These delegates collaborated to evaluate local and state needs related to career and technical education and provided valuable input that represents their state's student membership, contributing significantly to the national organization's goals.
Furthermore, Rowland High School fielded two additive manufacturing teams, groups of Technical Design, Architecture Design and Drafting, Computer Science students, an Interactive Gaming Design team and a Mobile Robotics: Urban Search and Rescue Team. While these teams did not come home with medals, they competed admirably and gained plenty of real-world experience at their competitive events, enhancing their practical skills and industry readiness.
To cap off a successful year, the Skills USA Engineering Chapter at Rowland High School was recognized as a Quality Chapter, earning the chapter a prize of $1,000. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and innovative spirit of our students and faculty.
Rowland High School continues to commit to fostering a supportive and challenging environment where students can excel and prepare for future successes in their respective fields. We are immensely proud of all our participants and congratulate them on their outstanding performances at the state level.
