First Day of School Reminders
Are You Ready for the First Day of School on Tuesday, July 30th?
Please review the checklist below to see what is needed to help you and your child prepare for the first day of school.
🔲 Annual Update
All new and returning parents must update student information via Infinite Campus.
The Annual Data Update for CSD families is open! The ADU is how families verify or update critical communication and health information, and do sign-offs for the handbook and code of conduct. Please visit https://www.csdecatur.net/adu for more information or log in directly to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. If you need assistance accessing the Parent Portal, click Login Help at https://www.csdecatur.net/adu or contact our school manager, Michelle Reynolds at mreynolds@csdecatur.net. Please complete your annual update BEFORE July 30th. Thank you!
Help make OUR school the first to reach 100% completion!
🔲 Transportation Plans
- Pick Up Patrol - NEW THIS YEAR! klIn order to increase safety at dismissal time our school is now using PickUp Patrol to help us track dismissals. Please use the PUP web app to submit:
ATTENDANCE: Notify the school office when your child will be absent, arriving late or leaving early.
DISMISSAL CHANGES: Submit changes to your child’s regular dismissal plans.
For example:
Your child normally rides the bus but is getting picked up today.
Your child usually goes to aftercare but is leaving early for an appointment.
Notes, emails, or phone calls will be accepted for changes for the next few weeks, but starting 8/19/24, all changes should be submitted through PickUp Patrol.
Thank you for helping to make safety a priority and to ensure our dismissal process is efficient for all our students.
If you have not received a registration email yet, please contact mreynolds@csdecatur.net to update your email address with us. If you have any questions, please first check the PUP Parent Guide. Also, if you do not have a way to download the app for dismissal changes, please reach out to Ms. Reynolds to discuss alternate plans. If after reading the parent guide you still need help, please contact us here in the office at mreynolds@csdecatur.net or PickUp Patrol at support@pickuppatrol.net.
Bus - Students must be registered to ride the bus. The transportation department is introducing two new tools to enhance services for the upcoming academic year.
The Stopfinder app will replace the Here Comes the Bus app for real-time tracking of buses during pickup and drop-off.
Infofinder i will replace the Can You Ride app, assisting families in locating student bus stop locations, stop times, and bus numbers.
If your address qualified for transportation for the 2024-25 school year, you received an email from the City Schools of Decatur transportation department on Monday, July 15. To find your student's bus stop location, stop time, and bus number, please click the Infofinder link. After locating this information, please confirm your choice to use the bus for transport by completing the Registration form.
- Car Rider - Enter the carpool line at the light on Ponce de Leon Ave and Sycamore Place in front of the school. The carpool line will begin at the top of the drive in front of the school. Please wait at the top until a staff member signals you to move down to the pick-up lane. There are after-school club vans and buses that need to pull up in the carpool/fire lane first.
Walker - Each afternoon you will meet your child at the designated area for each grade level. The locations for each grade level may be found HERE.
After School Care - Check with your child care provider to make sure they have your child registered for pick up.
🔲 Meals - Please see the information below if you would like to apply for free or reduced lunch. Families can apply for free or reduced-price lunch at any time during the school year. Additional information on the program is available on the Nutrition webpage.

Absences - When your child is absent, please send written notification as to why your child is out of school. You can email your child’s teacher and GL Front Office- Michelle Reynolds, our school manager. As stated in the CSD Student & Family Handbook:
Excused - Absences for the following reasons are excused upon presentation of documentation from parent(s):
Personal illness
Court order
Religious holidays
Visiting with a parent or legal guardian prior to overseas deployment
- Unexcused - Failure to attend school, with or without the knowledge of the parent or guardian, for reasons other than those specifically outlined as excused absences in the school district's published attendance policy and procedure or excused at the discretion of the administrator or designee.
🔲 School Hours - Just a reminder that arrival begins at 8:00 AM. We will begin our morning announcements at 8:20 AM and then begin our Class Crew meetings right after. Your child’s instructional time is critical to a successful school year. We will prepare for dismissal at 2:45 PM each day and dismissal begins at 2:50. Staff will be posted on duty outside each morning until 8:18 am to help with arrival. If you arrive after 8:18 am, you will need to escort your child to enter the main doors at the front of the building. All arrival and dismissal procedures may be found HERE.
Arrival Reminders for the First Day of School Tomorrow
Hello, Glennwood Eagles! We are so excited to welcome you back tomorrow!
Arrival Reminders
- Arrival is from 8:00am-8:20am (After 8:20am is considered tardy.) If you arrive after 8:18 am, you will need to escort your child to the front doors to enter the building. Staff are on duty until 8:18 am only.
- If your child will eat breakfast at school, please make every effort to arrive by 8am so that no instructional time is lost. Breakfast is served until 8:15 am.
- We will have plenty of staff and PTA volunteers stationed around the building to help our students this week at arrival and dismissal.
IF YOUR CHILD IS A WALKER TOMORROW....
Please walk students to the correct entrance for their grade level:
- Kindergarten students enter through the front doors.
- 1st graders enter through the doors behind the blue picnic tables in front of the school. (Note: Ms. Kaplan's 1st graders will enter at the main front doors.)
- 2nd graders enter through the side doors on Joyce Paris Lane to the right of the front doors as you face the building.
- Parents and caretakers should not enter the building. Staff will assist and direct students. Some kids may have a harder time saying goodbye and that is normal. However, they typically come in and have so much fun that they forget all about being sad. We will take good care of your children!
IF YOUR CHILD IS A CAR RIDER TOMORROW...
Drop-off begins at 8:00.
- Please enter the driveway at the traffic light (intersection of Ponce de Leon Ave and Sycamore Place) and pull up to the top of the drive (near the exit). Wait there until a staff member signals you to move forward down to the fire/bus lane where you will drop off your child. You may form 2 side-by-side lines of cars after 7:45 at the top of the drive in order to keep traffic off of Ponce de Leon Ave as much as possible.
- Parents should remain in their cars. We will assist your children. Parents and caretakers may not park and enter the building.
- Be sure your child is ready to disembark as soon as you pull up. It is important to keep our car line moving efficiently and safely. It is easiest to have your child on the side of the car where they will disembark so that they do not have to cross the carline traffic.
- Car rider line ends at 8:18 am.
Please refrain from the following in the carpool line:
Passing other cars in the carpool line unless directed by a staff member
Leaving your car unattended
Dropping your students off before 8:00 am
Dropping your students off in the carpool lane after 8:18 am. If you arrive after 8:18 am, you must park and sign your student in at the front office. (Staff working carpool must report to their classrooms and being instruction at 8:20 am.)
Entering through the exit lanes at the top of the drive
If YOUR CHILD IS A BUS RIDER TOMORROW...
- A staff member will greet the children and escort them off the bus.
- All kindergarten car riders and bus riders will be given a label with their teacher's name to help direct staff to which classroom they need to go.
