Announcing Beach's New Principal
June 2024
Dear staff and families:
I am pleased to announce that Niki Johnson will be the new principal of Beach Elementary School.
Niki is well known to the PPS community, having contributed to the district over the past seven years in a variety of positions, most recently as Scott Elementary School assistant principal. As Scott’s AP, she streamlined the Student Intervention Team process and developed comprehensive student support plans. She also led the school’s climate team and orchestrated a cohesive emergency response plan to ensure school safety and preparedness.
Prior to coming to Scott, Niki worked for four years as program administrator for the district’s Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) department. As program administrator, she led the team that facilitated the Fidelity of Implementation Tool (FIT) district-wide, collaborated with building leaders to enhance their MTSS practices, and pioneered PPS’s Student Intervention Team (SIT) guidance for grades 6-12.
Her extensive experience includes serving as Teacher on Special Assignment in MTSS, School Climate Specialist at Rigler Elementary School, and temporary principal of Abernethy Elementary School. She has also worked as an educator overseas, serving as Nursery Teacher and Year Group Leader for Dulwich College in Shanghai and Curriculum Coordinator for both Qingdao International School Shandong in Qingdao, China and Casablanca American School in Casablanca, Morocco. She began her career in education as a fourth and sixth grade classroom teacher in the Puyallup School District.
Please join me in congratulating Niki Johnson on being named principal of Beach Elementary School. Cordially, Dr. Jon Franco,
Chief of Schools
