From the Office
Happy new year! I hope your family had a fun and relaxing winter break.
We are excited to welcome your child(ren) back to school on Monday, January 6th. We have some exciting things planned for the new year, and we can't wait to see everyone back in the building. Also report cards will be coming home with students on Friday, January 10th.
We know that getting back into the school routine can sometimes take a little time. We will be focusing on re-establishing routines and building a strong classroom community during the first few weeks back in session.
We look forward to partnering with you to make 2025 an amazing year of learning and growth for your child.
Thank you,
Ryan Broshar

Counselor's Corner
Dear Westridge Families,
The focus of guidance lessons from December was Empathy. One way to think about Empathy is “understanding and connecting with other people’s feelings.” Empathy is a practice that can help us grow strong relationships. Empathy is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Kind. Across grade levels, students will be developing skills like perspective-taking, conflict resolution, and leadership.
One way to practice this trait at home is to schedule a family movie night so that you can specifically watch for feelings and emotions. Let everyone know they can point out how the characters in the show are feeling and that you can pause to discuss empathy seen in the story. As emotions are identified, invite one another to empathize by sharing about a time they felt that way or imagining how they might be feeling in that moment. This month, we will be discussing perseverance!
Sending you warm winter wishes,
