Meet the Principal Picnic
We are excited to invite you to our "Meet the Principal Picnic" on August 27, 2024. You’ll have two opportunities to join us: from 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM and again from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM. Feel free to bring your favorite picnic meal and a comfy blanket as we relax and get to know each other in a casual setting.
While our teachers will be occupied preparing their classrooms and activities to welcome our students on September 3rd (Kindergarten on September 6th), we’ll be hosting an Open House in October. Please stay tuned for more details in our upcoming Family Newsletters.
I look forward to meeting you and kicking off a fantastic school year together!

Elger Bay Elementary School Drop-Off/Pick-Up Procedures
Building on the positive feedback we've received from families, we will continue to implement the following drop-off and pick-up procedures for the 2024-2025 school year.
Morning Drop-Off:
Line Up at Yellow Stripes:
As you enter the parking lot, please line up behind the yellow stripe to allow school buses to maneuver safely. Your cooperation is crucial in ensuring that the buses can pass through without delays.
Proceed Around the Back of the School:
Once the buses have cleared, a staff member will signal you to proceed. Vehicles should form a single line and drive around the back of the school towards the designated drop-off area.
Student Drop-Off:
At the drop-off area, please have your child ready to exit the vehicle promptly. Students should exit on the driver's side of the vehicle for safety reasons. They will then walk along the side of the vehicle towards the covered walkway by the gym.
Exit the Campus:
After your child has exited the vehicle, please wait for a staff member to signal you before pulling forward and exiting the campus.
Playground Closed Before School:
Please note that the playground is closed before school starts. Students should proceed directly to the school entrance after exiting the vehicle.
Afternoon Pick-Up:
The procedure for pick-up will follow the same route as drop-off. Please line up behind the yellow stripe until the buses have left, and then proceed around the back of the school in a single line. A staff member will direct the pick-up process.
Important Reminders:
Patience and Cooperation: As we all adapt to the procedures, your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated. These procedures are designed to enhance safety and reduce congestion on campus.
Follow Staff Directions: For the safety of all students and staff, please follow the directions provided by the staff members on duty.
Timeliness: Arrive at the designated time slots for drop-off and pick-up to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
We thank you for your collaboration and valuable feedback, which have been essential in ensuring the safety of all our students.
Classroom Placement at Elger Bay
At Elger Bay, we do not accept specific classroom requests. Our goal is to create balanced classrooms that best address the academic and social needs of all students. We carefully consider each student's needs to ensure they receive the appropriate academic support and are placed in an environment that promotes their success. In some cases, students may be grouped together to enhance their learning experience when it is most beneficial.
Class placements will be shared with families via Skyward Messenger on Monday, August 26.
School Supplies
We want to remind families that the district provides school supplies to all elementary students for this upcoming school year. We do this to ensure equitable access to quality school supplies and relieve financial burdens for families.
The kits include the following items:
- Pocket Folders
- Spiral Notebooks
- Pencils, 12 pack
- Crayola Thick Broad Tip Washable Markers (K-2)
- Crayola Crayons, 24 pack (K-2)
- Crayola Colored Pencils (3-5)
- Highlighters
- Whiteboard Markers
- Pink Erasers
- Glue Sticks
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Headphones
Some families may have already purchased supplies and are unable to return them. If your child wants to donate the supplies to the classroom or bring in those items you are welcome to do so. However, bringing supplies is not necessary. Your child can also keep their supplies at home for special art projects or homework assignments.
Apply for Free and Reduced meals today
While our school campus is one that has qualified for free meals to all students in the 2024-25 school year, this qualification is reassessed each year based on Free and Reduced-Price Meal applications.
In order for the free meals to continue next year, we request families complete our Free or Reduced-Price Meals application because it will determine if this benefit continues in future years as well as other federal and state funding for the district. It also unlocks student and family benefits in the district and community, such as lower utility bills.
If you haven’t yet completed a Free or Reduced Meal application, now’s the perfect time to do so! Completing the application takes less than 10 minutes, and you only need to complete one meal application per family.
Don't know if you'd qualify? Take our easy online quiz to help determine your eligibility!
To get started, download and complete the application form linked at the bottom of this email or simply complete it online through your SKYWARD Family Access account.
