Our Summersill chorus will be performing the Lion King Musical at 2pm today in the multipurpose room. Our chorus students did a fantastic job at Friday evening's performance! We are so grateful for Mrs. Jones, our music teacher and for Mrs. Rixmann, Mrs. Maxwell and Mrs. Noel for assisting with this special musical. Tickets are $5. Cast members and stage crew need to arrive at 1:00pm and parents and guests can enter at 1:30pm.

On Tuesday, June 4 our 4th and 5th grade students will take the Reading End of Grade test and 3rd graders who did not reach proficiency during the year will take the Read to Achieve Test. On Thursday, June 6 all 3rd-5th grade students will take the Math End of Grade test. We want our students to shine and show what they know. They need to get a good night's rest, eat a healthy breakfast and arrive on time.

Our last Strategic Planning Team meeting will be Wednesday, June 5 in the media center at 3:45pm. All parents and staff are welcome to attend.

Our Preschool Drive Through End of Year Celebration on Wednesday, June 5 from 6:30pm-7:00pm in front of the school. Parents are invited to decorate their cars.

Our Kindergarten Celebration is Thursday, June 6 at 1:00pm in the Multipurpose Room. We look forward to celebrating this special day with our kindergarteners!

All library books need to be returned this week. If you cannot find the books, please pay for a replacement through schoolcashonline.

New Onslow County Policy:

For the safety of our students, no vehicles are to be on campus more that 30 minutes prior to dismissal. Dismissal starts at 3:15; therefore, cars should not be parked for dismissal prior to 2:45. Please drive slowly when arriving on campus. There will be five orange cones placed for each car to stop, so students can be let out by a staff member. You will pull forward and a staff member will load your child. Staff members will not buckle your child in their seat; however, they will open the car door for them.

If you have questions regarding buses (bus number, bus stop location, pickup/drop off time) please use the Edulog Parent App on your Smartphone. You will need your child's Powerschool number in order to set up an account and access the bus information. Your child's teacher will have your child's Powerschool number at Orientation.

All parents are encouraged to sign up for Parent Portal. You can monitor attendance within the Portal and you can see your child's grades, assignments & due dates for students in grades 3-5. Parent Involvement Opportunities

Are you a parent looking for ways to contribute to Summersill Elementary? There are several opportunities for parents to get involved and support our Eagle family. Please review each opportunity below.

* Parent Teacher Organization: This group meets in person and sends in special treats for staff throughout the year

* Parent Volunteer: Parents have to be volunteered trained each year and fingerprinted at the district office every five years

* Room Parent: Assists the teacher with various things for the classroom

* Strategic Planning Team: School stakeholders (parents, teachers, administration) work together to improve the school
