A Note from Mrs. Pitts
Dear RES Families,
I wanted to send a thank you to the community for watching students when they come to RES after school hours and understanding our need to keep hallways and classrooms clear for so many reasons. We want to support our evening custodians in all that they need to get done, protect student and staff confidentiality by not having students enter classrooms after school hours and ensure our school expectations are the same when the day ends. If you have any questions or thoughts, please feel free to email me any time!
ALSO, we have approved the 2025-2026 school calendar! Here it is. I have also linked it to the resources at the top of this newsletter where it will remain for the rest of the year.
LASTLY, I wanted ALL families to know that our Grade 4 Celebration and our Grade Level Celebrations of Growth will occur on June 13. The schedule is as follows:
Grade 4 at 9:00 AM
Grade 2 at 10:15 AM
Grade 1 at 12:45 PM
Grade 3 at 1:45 PM
The last day for Kindergarten is June 11!
Warmly,
Michelle Pitts

Lunch in Our Caf
We invite one family member at a time to have lunch with their child(ren) but this is very optional and we don't want families to feel pressured to attend. This is an occasional event as we do want children to build independence and social skills in the cafeteria, a perfect time for this!
- Email resoffice@sau50.org if you would like to attend with the date/time. It is important to anticipate who will be in the building. We love these opportunities for students and their family members but we will always put safety first.
- Adults must bring their own lunch and can bring lunch for their own child.
- We do have a focus during this time...eating for energy and brain power!
- Family members must meet the child in the cafeteria and leave from the cafeteria.
- Days for family visits are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We do not have lunch visitors on Fridays.
- Lunch times are:
Kindergarten-11:45-12:10
First Grade-12:10-12:35
Second Grade-12:10-12:35
Third Grade- 11:15-11:40
Fourth Grade-11:15-11:40
Week in Review
Let's Talk About Race
The Power of Yet
Students in grade 4 demonstrated their growth mindset as they explored the power of YET. As we entered a new year, these fourth graders thought about a goal and will PERSEVERE (our January character trait) to achieve it in the months/years to come!
Third Grade Spanish Play
¡Hola familias!
After studying vocabulary associated with tortillas, third grade students prepared and performed their own creative version of La Pequeña Gallina Roja, where the little red hen makes tortillas. We discussed the nutrients found in tortillas, their cultural significance and the emotions displayed in the characters in the play in our World Language Health class and regular World Language class. The third graders did an excellent job presenting this story entirely in Spanish to families and staff members. Each student had an important role, from acting, narrating, and producing the play. I am so incredibly proud of their progress and hard work! ¡Buen trabajo! As always, thank you for your support at home. It makes all the difference!
