Principal's Weekly Update

Dear Families,

It has been another busy week at St. Mary's School. All students gathered together on Monday at Larz Anderson Park for Field Day! Thank you to our Early Childhood teachers in games and activities for our youngest learners in PreK and K1. Thank you to Mr. Jerry Holmes, our Physical Education teacher, who organized stations like kickball, soccer penalty kicks, and relay races for Grades K2 through Grade 8 students. The weather was perfect and students enjoyed an ice cream or popsicle treat before heading home.

On Wednesday we gathered again, this time at the Parish, for a Commencement Mass and eighth grade graduation. Congratulations to our 8th Grade Graduates: Emilia, Gabe, Julia, Skyler, Lukas, and Graham! We are so proud of your accomplishments and wish you all the best in high school! Thank you to Mr. Suriawinata, Mr. Febesh, and Ms. Allen for preparing our graduates so well and caring for them as they move on to high school. Thank you to Mrs. Nisreen Bayazid, our School Guidance Counselor, for supporting our graduates in their high school application process, scholarship applications, and interviews. Good luck graduates and congratulations again!

Congratulations to Mr. Nick Antonacci, our Apprentice Principal, and his wife, Sarah, for welcoming their baby boy into the world! Baby Leo was born on June 3rd. Mom and baby are doing well! Mr. Antonacci will begin a new role as Assistant Principal at St. Patrick's School in Stoneham this summer. We are so blessed to have had Nick work with us this year in the Main Office and teaching Grade 6 Math. He will be missed!

Thank you so much to Mr. Jerry Holmes, our Physical Education Teacher, for a successful Field Day for students in Grades K2-8! Thank you to our Early Childhood teachers and assistant teachers for guiding our PreK-K1 students in games and activities on Field Day! Thank you to all our parent volunteers who supported by running stations and guiding classes throughout the day!

Congratulations to our K2-Grade 7 Paul Effman Band students!!! Families and friends enjoyed the concert on Friday featuring K2 ukuleles, Grades 1-3 Violins, and Beginner and Experienced Band students! Thank you to Mrs. Jen Hawes, our Band Director, for leading our students and teaching them this year! Thank you to Mr. Tom Carlisle for assisting and teaching the instrumental program and band alongside Jen. Thank you so much to our parents and families for supporting students at home in their practice! Keep up the great work over the summer!

Many members of our St. Mary's community contributed their family's recipes creating an amazing blend of delicious recipes wrapped in to one recipe book for $25! Not only will this cookbook provide incredible recipes, but it will also serve as a memorable keepsake for your child's time at St. Mary's.
