It can be any employee: a teacher, or an educational assistant, a bus driver or a secretary or a food service worker, an administrator or a custodian. Our district is filled with great staff!

On Wednesday, seniors had the opportunity to get help filling out the FAFSA, college applications, resumes, and scholarships in the library with Mrs. Wright, Mrs. Kalina, and a SWOCC representative.

Juniors, mark your calendars--the SAT test date is set for April 11th. If you are interested in taking the SAT please see Mrs. Wright to sign up or you can send her an email: cwright@bandon.k12.or.us Deadline to sign up for the SAT is February 28th.

Athletes who plan to play a spring sport need to be signed up on FamilyID and have a current OSAA sports physical on file with the office. Please check with the office if you do not know if you have a current sports physical on file.

Yearbook pre-orders are available at the office window for $30.00.

We had an early release to lunch on Friday for students who had 95% or better daily attendance last semester and those students who were on the list were given an ice cream treat on their way out to lunch. We've had our first raffle for students who are on time to select surprise classes. More "On-Time Tickets" will be awarded at another surprise class period soon! Be here! Be on time! Go Tigers! Our Lady Tigers won't be stopped! Today they take on Oakridge Warriors in the Valley Coast Conference League Playoff Tournament at Sutherlin High School. Tip off is at 6:00 PM. Let's Go Lady Tigers!!

On Wednesday, the boys' basketball team traveled to Lowell in hopes of securing a playoff game. Unfortunately the odds were not in their favor and the Tiger's fell short losing 55-45 for a final score. There were many tears shed by the team and coaches as they embraced the realization that was the final time the 5 seniors would be playing for Bandon High School. This group was more than just a team, they were a family. The memories made are invaluable. Seniors, we are going to miss watching you play, but we wish you the best of luck on your future endeavors.

Girls Round 1 State Playoff

Congratulations to our HLMS mathletes! They beat out Marshfield today to advance to the State Championships. We are so proud of Frida Corlett, Zoe Thomas, Greg Smith-Napier, and Jack Vineyard!

Our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade choir students are headed to Marshfield on February 28th for an all day choir festival.

HLMS track will be starting before we know. Please make sure that your student has a sports physical on file and is signed up through Family ID if they wish to participate.

The class of 2028 parent group has organized a can and bottle drive to help fund the 8th grade promotion party.

All of our students should have signed a behavior agreement form that acknowledges that they have reviewed the student handbook, and know what the behavior expectations are at HLMS. We would appreciate it if you could take a moment to review the student hand book (link below) as well.

Just a reminder, students are not allowed to have cell phones out during school hours. We require them to be kept off and in their locker or backpack during the day. This includes breaks and at lunch. Please encourage your student to come to the office or their teachers if they have a concern or need help instead of reaching out to you via cell phone during the day. This way we can help make sure that all your student's needs are being met. We have a student phone available in the commons that is always available.

Valley Flora wanted to alert you to a few new programs that we - and other NW farms - are spearheading in in order to make fresh, local produce more accessible to low income families in our community. We’re trying to get the word out as widely as possible. If you have a spot to hang a poster (attached below), or room for a mention in your next newsletter, that would be wonderful! We are happy to provide you with a color-printed poster, just let us know! Also, please feel free to forward this email to anyone in your networks who would benefit from knowing about these programs.

• Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB): a program that helps low-income Oregonians purchase more fruits and vegetables while supporting local, family farms. Folks with SNAP benefits can purchase one of our farm’s community supported agriculture (CSA) shares and DUFB will provide 1:1 matching funds (they pay half the cost of the CSA with SNAP and DUFB covers the other half). It's a win-win that strengthens our community by providing better access to fresh, healthy food while helping local farmers earn a living.
