- March 17th-21st - Spring Break!
Hello Families!
While there isn't really a slowest part of the school year, this stretch coming up after spring break is definitely the busiest. In addition to all of the spring activities that many of you are involved in outside of school, we have all of the Wish Week activities our National Elementary Honor Society group have planned in support of the Make a Wish program, followed quickly by the District Art Showcase, and then several nights of music performances. April also brings the CMAS Assessment window for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders followed quickly by our school level assessments starting at the end of the month. On top of all of that, we have a number of grade levels taking their field trips including perhaps the world's coolest of all field trips in May when we send one of our amazing robotics teams to the World Championships in Dallas! This leads us into the different field day activities, the whole school picnic, and our 5th Grade Continuation celebration. It's exhausting even just to write down!!
The tricky part for us becomes balancing the busyness of the season against the developmental and emotional readiness of the 3-11 year olds that make this such a special place. This last third of the year is the most critical from a learning perspective because students get so much more cognitively sophisticated. We really want to push them, we just need to be sure we are purposeful about giving them time to rest and process as well. It becomes critical, then, to look for signs of anxiety and overwhelm and to make adjustments as we go. Please be sure to reach out to your teacher if you start to see signs of this with your student, and we will do the same. Working together, we can ensure that students learn as much as possible, have as much fun as possible, and finish the school year happy and healthy!
I also want to quickly take a moment to recognize students who earned awards this past month. Students were celebrated for their accomplishments in 4 areas; Academic Achievement (Mountain Top Award), Academic Effort (Lynx Spirit Award), Behavior (5B Master Award), and Citizenship.

Spring Break Reading Challenge!
Three of our students have put together a Spring Break Reading Challenge for our students. We are encouraging any family that wants to participate to read 20 minutes per day during Spring Break. Our goal is for our whole school to read for 50,000 minutes! Reading days will be March 15th to March 23rd.
Students can read on MyON or SORA, both of which will count your minutes. Record any offline/book reading using this link: Offline Reading Log
Class Photos March 13th and 14th
In the spring, we take Class Photos at Blue Mountain. There is also an option to have individual photos taken for any students in the school. 5th Graders will all take individual photos for Continuation. Please see emails for your child's teacher for more specifics on their class photo day.

Wish Week is Coming!
We are excited to announce that the students and teachers with our National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) are working with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to sponsor a Wish Trip for a child like Berkely (see attached page for more information). To do this, they are organizing a Wish Week at Blue Mountain this year! Wish Week will be from March 30 st until April 5 th and we are hoping to raise over $7,000 to fulfill a wish for a Make-A-Wish child.
There will be many activities during Wish Week. Of course, participation is not required, but for those that are interested here is a brief breakdown of what is to come:
Going on Now through Wish Week:
Wish Week Penny Wars! - Classes are collecting coins in jars in their classrooms to count towards the wish. The "catch" is that other students can "sabotage" a class's jar with paper money and it counts against the class total, but obviously just increases the total amount raised overall. We have quite a few competitive kids in our school!
Wish Week Events:
Monday, 3/31
- Theme for day: Pink/Purple Day
Tuesday, 4/1
- Culver's Spirit Night - Dine out and a portion of proceeds is given towards our Wish Week Total
- Theme for day: Outdoorsy Day
- Theme for day: Jersey Day
- Noodles Spirit Night - Dine out and a portion of proceeds is given towards our Wish Week Total
- Theme for day: Super Hero Day
- Movie Night @ 6:00pm - More information coming after spring break!
- Theme for day: Disney Day
Our Fundraising Page
Blue Mountain has our own fundraising page with Make-A-Wish. If your family would like to contribute towards our total, please visit http://site.wish.org/goto/BlueMountain2025
Please see the attached page about Berkley! Our funds raised will go towards a child like Berkley.
Kids' Night Out
Silver Creek High School Leadership Academy is hosting a Kids' Night Out on Saturday, March 29th from 6-9pm. There will be games, pizza, movies, crafts, and concessions. The cost is $20 per child. Please sign up using this link: Google Form Sign Up Link
You can pay by clicking this CheddarUp link or you can pay at the event in cash.
Enjoy your Spring Break! We will see you again Monday, March 24th!
