Music
Year 7:
This term in year 7 are creating their own video game music using LogicProX, a music industry standard DAW software. This has involved creating a leitmotif for hero and villain characters, as well as starting to create the theme music for their game. Miss Patrick has really enjoyed listening to students’ creations, but would like to celebrate Eva and Nojus (7CA), Lily C and Ryker (7CO) and Emmie (7TE) for their effective compositions - brilliant work! Mr. Harragan has enjoyed some of the creativity that he has seen and heard from Year 7, in particular Myles and Uros (7TA) – Keep up this fantastic effort.
Year 8:
Year 8 have been learning about riffs this term and have been learning a number of classic hooks from popular songs. A big focus for this term has been to record music accurately, by reading notation and using a metronome. Miss Patrick would like to give particular praise to Ruslan (8ST), Tarak and Arry (8TE) and Roberta (8SW) for their accuracy in these tasks - well done!
Year 9:
This term Year 9 are creating their own bands and performing a cover version of a song of their choice. A number of students have chosen to learn chords on a guitar this term for the first time, which has included learning how to understand TAB notation. Miss Patrick would like to commend Marika (8SW), Patrick and Witek (9CU), Sophie and Wiktoria (9CO) for the brilliant resilience shown in learning the guitar parts for their songs! Mr Harragan has been impressed with Vlad, Kaiden and Christopher (9SI) for going beyond and composing their own song during this project.
Year 10:
We would like to celebrate all Year 10's for their fantastic attitude to learning this year and to recognise the amazing progress students have made. A particular mention goes to Addison and Miller for some fantastic comments on musical elements recently on our concerto through time topic.
Year 12:
Harvey, Dexter and Ruben started their Music Technology course back in September, not knowing how a music studio would be set up, microphone and recording techniques or how to compose their own sound designs. They have worked extremely hard this year, working individually and collectively as a group where they can now successfully run a recording session in the studio without any teacher input, and are in the midst of their own music technology composition. Very well done, keep this success up!
Drama:
Year 7:
Year 7 students have been focusing on using sound and physical theatre to create and devise their own spooky pieces of drama based around Haunted and Hunted, exploring physical and vocal skills. We would like to commend Riley, David, Rehan and David (7SW) for their creative thinking and devising of some very clever physical theatre.
Year 8:
Year 8 have been studying the characters of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, looking at in particular what characteristics make each of the 5 children who receive a golden ticket stand out. We would like to highlight the efforts of Shontelle, Sylar, Hanni, Cora, Liam and Jack (8CO) for their efforts in thinking hard about their characters and bringing these to life.
Year 9:
This term, Year 9 have been collaborating all their previous knowledge of different skills and combining these together to devise their own piece of drama, focusing around the impact of social media on families, creating stories to help educate the younger audience on the dangers of social media. We would like give praise to Mia and Natalia (9TE), Ronan and Luke (9TA) for their attitude to thinking about the effectiveness of different techniques in creating an effective piece of drama.
Year 10:
All our students in Year 10 have been working incredibly hard on their coursework, creating their devised piece of drama. Well done to all of you and keep up the hard work and efforts that you have been putting in, in class and taking the initiative to work outside of lesson time too.
