Addams Walk to School Events
Dear Addams Families,
Royal Oak Schools will be offering opportunities for students to walk to school together with adult supervision through Safe Routes to School. For the walks to school this spring, school staff will provide supervision and parents are welcome to join the walks if they would like to participate with their child. In the fall, we may ask for parent volunteers to assist.
Safe Routes to School (SRTS) is an international movement and a federal program to make it safe, convenient, and fun for children, including those with disabilities, to bicycle and walk to school. When routes are safe, walking or biking to and from school is an easy way to get the regular physical activity children need for good health. Safe Routes to School initiatives also help ease traffic jams and air pollution, unite neighborhoods, and contribute to students’ readiness to learn in school.
Here are the details for Addams students:
Dates: Fridays- May 16, May 30, and June 6, 2025
Time: Group can start meeting at 7:45 am. Walk start time is 7:55 am.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month!
During the month of May, we encourage all of our students, staff and families to show support for mental health by wearing the color green on every Monday throughout the month. Green is the official color for mental health awareness as green represents renewal, hope, and vitality. To be seen in green, whether a complete outfit or just a touch of green, sends a message of advocacy and support for the importance of mental health.
Additional Resources that staff and/or families can use with students.

Prasit Nemmin and his friends could only play soccer a couple of times a month, since the sandbar they played on in their island village of Koh Panyee, Thailand was underwater the rest of the time. Watching the World Cup on TV made them want to play every day, inspiring their plan to build a floating field.

PTA Spring Carnival Volunteers
The Spring Carnival will be held on Friday, May 16th from 6-8pm. This event is a cherished tradition with Addams families. In order to make this event a success we will need a large number of volunteers to assist with the event. If we are unable to find the volunteers to cover the event, we will need to make the tough decision to cut back on some of the activities offered. Please consider signing up for a shift to help at this event.
