Our campus attendance goal is 96%
This week's attendance is 96.79 %
Cub Families,
We had another outstanding Cub Club day today. We appreciate everyone who was able to volunteer with us. It is so much fun getting to see the kids participate in these clubs. Speaking of special activities, 5th grade science is in need of empty Pringle cans or similar canisters. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
As we get ready for our Thanksgiving break, I wanted to remind everyone of the YMCA Turkey Trot this Saturday. Please wear your Run Club shirt if you are participating, and we will get a group picture. Even if you are not running, feel free to come and support those who are.
I hope that all of you are able to enjoy the family time over the break. Safe travels to all of you who are traveling for the break. I look forward to seeing you back on Monday, December 2nd.

Missing an Item? Check Out Our Lost and Found
We have a lot of belongings that need to find their way home. If your child is missing an item, please encourage them to check the Lost and Found during lunch. Parents can also sign in at the office and look for any missing items. They are located in the cafeteria. Anything that doesn't find a home by the end of the semester will be donated. And remember...Don't forget to put your child's name on everything.
2025-2026 Academic Calendar Feedback
Over the last month, the Calendar Committee developed and narrowed down options for the official BISD 2025-2026 academic calendar. We encourage all parents/guardians, employees, and secondary students to take a moment and review the two calendar options presented. Emails with unique feedback links from K12 Insight went out November 19.
The calendar with the most votes will be presented to the BISD Board of Trustees for approval on Monday, December 16.
Good morning BISD families,
I am excited to announce that the referral window for the Gifted and Talented program will be open from November 15th to December 17th. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to nominate your child for consideration in our Gifted and Talented program, which is designed to provide advanced educational opportunities for students who demonstrate exceptional abilities.
If you believe your child would benefit from this program, please take the time to submit a referral during this window. Additional information about the process, including the referral link, can be found on the district’s Advanced Academics website linked here.
I encourage you to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have regarding the referral process. Thank you for your continued support in fostering our students’ growth and potential.
Best regards,
Christine Poulis
Director of Advanced Academics
Want to Volunteer at CCES?
Thank you for your interest in volunteering here at CCES. If you haven't already done so, please complete the background check at the link below. Don't forget that you must do this every year as the background check does expire.
Our Great 8 Skill for this nine weeks is Self-Awareness. One of the aspects/skills we teach students during this time is to appreciate their own culture and the culture of others. The holidays are a great time to talk to your kiddos about their culture and your family’s traditions. It can be a really great family bonding time! Enjoy and share who they are and how they fit into your family’s culture!!
Remember, the referral window for the Gifted and Talented program is still open until December 17th. If you want to refer your child, go to the Boerne ISD website under Advanced Academics and click the link BISD Gifted and Talented Referral Form.
If you have CCES spirit shirts your child has outgrown (or your child has moved on to another school), please consider donating them back to us so we can pass them on to another student who may not have the opportunity to own one. You can drop them off for the counseling department at the front office. Thank you for your generosity!!
Have a KIND and fabulous Thanksgiving, Cubs!!

Here are a few tips on strep and how to manage it.
What is strep?
Strep throat is an infection caused by streptococcus bacteria. It is transmitted person-to-person through respiratory secretions and is also passed in households. The incubation period is 2-5 days. People with strep are infectious until they have received treatment and until 24 hours after starting antibiotics. The ONLY certain way to diagnose strep throat is with a throat culture.
School Protocol
Students who test positive for strep throat need to be out of school for at least 24 hours after treatment has begun and starting antibiotics, fever has subsided, and they feel well enough to resume a full day of school activities.
Symptoms to look for that are common in strep
The onset of sore throat is rapid.
Fevers are common along with body aches.
The sore throat persists beyond one or two days.
A rash appears with the sore throat, especially one that looks like sandpaper or goose bumps along with the appearance of “strawberry tongue” (signs of scarlet fever).
Recent contact with another child who was diagnosed with strep throat or the skin infection, impetigo.
Pus or greenish-yellow discharge seen in the back of the throat.
Large, rubbery lymph nodes in the neck region.
Petechiae, tiny red dots surrounding the tonsils and extending on the palate.
Small white dots or patches may be visible on the palate or tonsil.
Nausea and/or vomiting or belly pain
Treatments
Strep infections are usually treated with an oral antibiotic, starting either with characteristic symptoms or after a strep test is positive. Here are some other tips to help relieve symptoms
Over the counter medications such as Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can help with pain and reduce fevers
Salt-water gargles and honey or lemon in tea may help soothe a sore throat.
Complications
Complications can occur after a strep throat infection. This can happen if the bacteria spread to other parts of the body.
Complications can include:
Abscesses (pockets of pus) around the tonsils or in the neck
Swollen lymph nodes in the neck
Sinus infections
Ear infections
Rheumatic fever (a disease that can affect the heart, joints, brain, and skin)
Post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis (a kidney disease)
How to prevent the spread
Wash your hands after wiping your nose or coughing and before preparing food.
Change your child’s toothbrush and toothpaste 24 hours after starting antibiotics.
Wash dishes carefully in hot, soapy water or in a dishwasher.
Do not allow the sharing of food or allow children to share cups, spoons, or toys that are put in the mouth.
Complete the entire course of the antibiotics prescribed by your doctor and call your physician if symptoms return following completion of treatment.
