From the Principal
As we approach winter vacation, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who makes our school such a special place. Our students have shown tremendous growth and resilience this semester, working hard academically and contributing positively to our school community. Our staff continues to go above and beyond to create engaging, meaningful learning experiences and foster a supportive environment for every student. And, of course, our families and community members have been incredibly supportive, helping us all work together to make this school year a success.
The winter break offers a chance to pause, recharge, and reflect on our accomplishments. It’s also an opportunity to set new goals and be inspired to take on the second half of the school year with energy and enthusiasm. As we celebrate this season, let’s carry forward the spirit of kindness, generosity, and hope that brings us together as a community.

Primary Team News
hank you to WEF for funding new puzzle boards and puzzles for our second grade classes! The students are having a wonderful time working on more challenging puzzles over a number of days.
Intermediate Team Ideas
This week in third grade, students wrapped up their holidays around the world research project with a gallery walk. We also reviewed parts of speech. We practiced identifying and using parts of speech in a variety of holiday-themed activities. It was a super busy week in 3/4 Brach! The 3rd graders used context clues to define unfamiliar words in their novel The One and Only Ivan. They also identified examples of figurative language taken from their novel-similes, metaphors, idioms, personification, alliteration, hyperbole, and onomatopoeia. The 4th graders found examples of imagery in their novel Number the Stars. They worked on using context clues to define unfamiliar words and they also practiced identifying figurative language taken from their novel including oxymoron and allusion. Both 3rd and 4th graders also studied prefixes and how they influence the meaning of words. Finally, 3rd and 4th graders got into the holiday spirit by creating gifts for their family members. 5th grade this week wrapped up their division unit by utilizing their problem solving skills to solve application-based word problems. They also analyzed figurative language the author used in an excerpt from the novel Esperanza Rising.
Specials Team Update
In advanced digital photography class, students participated in the "Big World, Small Object" challenge with the macro lenses. They had such awesome creativity with small figurines of animals and cars. We took photos of the object to make the object look really large and then zoomed out and took a photo of the object to really see how small it is in our big world. We put the photos side by side for a comparison.
