Elementary Highlights
Rainy Weather
We want to remind you that students will continue to enjoy outdoor time even on drizzly days, as long as it isn’t pouring. We believe that fresh air and playtime are essential, so we make every effort to get students outside whenever possible. Please ensure your child comes to school prepared with a waterproof jacket, and consider sending rain boots and a hat to keep them comfortable. Of course, if the rain becomes too heavy or the weather turns severe, we’ll adjust plans to keep everyone indoors. Thank you for helping us keep recess both safe and fun, rain or shine!
Attendance Matters
The chart above displays the percentage of elementary students who attend school regularly. Our goal for November is for 87% of students to attend school consistently.
In Washington State, a student is considered chronically absent if they miss 10% or more of the school year—about 18 days or two days per month—regardless of whether the absences are excused or unexcused.
Fall Festival
Our first Fall Festival was a tremendous success! From 1:00-2:30, students moved between classrooms, enjoying a wide variety of games and activities designed to celebrate the season and build community. It was wonderful to see so many smiles and hear laughter filling the halls—fun was truly had by all! We’d like to extend our thanks to everyone who donated prizes, making it possible for students to take home fun rewards and memories from the day. A special thank you goes out to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department for their generous donation of gift bags and goodies, which added an extra layer of excitement to the event. Thank you all for helping to make this festival a memorable experience for our students!

Middle School Highlights
We ended the month of October with two big celebrations: IMPACT awards and PBIS end of the month awards. Our IMPACT awards are sponsored by the Spokane Tribe. Each month Reardan staff nominate students who are making an impact in their community. IMPACT stands for the traits we look for when nominating students: Integrity, Motivation, Purpose, Academics, Community, and Teamwork. Each students who wins an IMPACT award is recognized at the whole district assembly and receives a gift card from the Spokane Tribe. We truly value and appreciate their partnership with us! PBIS this month recognized students who exemplified the character trait of COURAGE. We also gave recognition to our MS bus riders of the week and drew 15 names out of the pride card bucket. Following our assembly, students who had NO office referrals and NO missing assignments had an hour of snacks and games in the commons. We continue to highlight the students who are making good choices and meeting our expectations. Next month our reward activity will be for students with NO office referrals, NO unexcused absences, and NO tardies. Thank you for helping our students focus on the importance of having positive attendance and for communicating with the school when illness or doctor appointments keep students out of school. Our attendance line number is 509.381.1312 and you can also email at attendance@reardansd.net
November brings up parent conferences and we are excited to have our students share their progress with you. All middle school students will complete a data reflection and goal setting activity that they will bring home and share with parents. Parents will also be asked to look at their High School and Beyond Plan online and check a signature box for that. First quarter grades will be posted on Friday November 8th and are part of the data students will be reflecting on. If you would like a parent conference with your child and all of their teachers, please email Ms. Newsum dnewsum@reardansd.net to schedule a time. We have time set aside for team conferences on Monday and Tuesday mornings or by other appointment. We reserve the majority of our Monday afternoon and evening time slots for parents to stop by teachers’ classrooms to have individual conversations. Please set aside time on Monday November 25 or Tuesday morning, November 26 to come and conference with us.

Options Program Highlights
Did You Know?
Our very own Superintendent, Mr. Eric Sobotta, is also the principal of the Options Program! Before joining Reardan, he founded the "Three Rivers HomeLink" program in Richland in 2008. This program started in a rented church. By the time Mr Sobotta left, the school had grown to over 400 students. It has since grown to a thriving school with over 700 students in their very own building!
