Second-grade engineers test and modify their designs to build seed dispersal mechanisms with long flight times.
Gordon's design had the longest 10-second flight time from the staircase balcony!
Kindergarteners learn about solids and liquids in science.
Shaking the cream causes the fat molecules to separate from the liquid. The more the cream is shaken, the more these fat molecules clump together, forming a solid, which is the butter.
Report Cards
First-trimester report cards for students in grades 1, 2, and 3 will be sent home in backpacks on December 6th.
Kindergarten students receive report cards by semester. First-semester report cards will be sent home with kindergartners on January 24th.
Health Office Update:
It’s that time of year when we are seeing an increase in illnesses at school. As a reminder, here are common reasons when a student should stay home from school:
Fever greater than 100 degrees (must be fever-free for at least 24 hrs without using fever-reducing medications such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen before returning to school)
Respiratory virus symptoms such as a cough or nasal congestion that are worsening or not improving and not better explained by another cause such as seasonal allergies
Vomiting and/or diarrhea within 24 hours of coming to school
Rash or skin sores of unknown origin
Lingering sore throat with or without fever
For illnesses such as strep throat, impetigo, or conjunctivitis, a student must be treated for 24 hours before returning to school.
In general, a child returning to school should be well enough to participate in school with improving symptoms. They should also be able to manage cough and congestion on their own, and be able to tolerate food and liquids. Parents and caregivers should consult their child’s healthcare providers with specific questions about their child’s condition or illness.
