PARKER WEEKLY BULLETIN
Week of 12-9-2024
Message from Principal Blagg
Good afternoon Parker Families,
It was great to see everyone return after the Thanksgiving break. As a community we will buckle down for the final two weeks before we embark on the Winter break. This time of year is incredibly exciting for our students with the upcoming holidays, vacation, and the changing season. It does, however, come with its share of stress and anxiety. Please be sure to reach out to your child's teacher, counselor, or myself if support is needed. We are here to help.
The "Be the Change" Project
We kicked off our Be the Change Project this week will run from December 2-20. This project continues our yearlong kindness initiative which promotes empowering our students to see the power of one in creating a positive change.
"Be the change you wish to see in the world" is a phrase often attributed to Gandhi. We are looking to inspire each of our teams to make a positive difference locally, nationally, or globally. Each team chose a service project that is unique to their team and generated from what problem they seek to improve. We are excited to see our teams work collaboratively towards a common goal. Please be sure to discuss this project with our children. It can be very empowering to see the difference one can make.
"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world." - Anne Frank

The show begins at 2:00 pm and will be at the McCarthy Auditorium. The Chelmsford Community Band is made up of 70 members from Chelmsford and the surrounding communities, with musicians ranging in age from 24 to 94 and includes many CHS alumni and several families of current Parker students.
Science Fair Committee Volunteers
Volunteers are still needed for a prospective Science Fair to be held in the Spring. We have a few volunteers so far but would love some more to help share ideas, organization, and execution of this endeavor. Please reach out to me directly at blaggj@chelmsford.k12.ma.us

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS & ACTIVITIES & LATE BUSES
Our after-school programs will start on Tuesday, October 15th. The Activity Fee is $50 per student. To pay PLEASE CLICK ON LINK My School Bucks or send in cash or checks made payable to Chelmsford Public Schools and turn into your child's homeroom teacher. The activity fee allows students to take full advantage of any clubs they wish to attend. The after-school activities run from 2:40-3:40 on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday throughout the year. Students also have the option of taking a late bus home. The routes are posted in the school and will not be posted publicly. We will work with students and the drivers to be sure students take the correct bus home. Since we only have 8 late buses, for both McCarthy and Parker the stops tend to be more spread out than the “regular” bus runs. After activities, students who are not taking a bus will exit the school into the Crooked Spring Road lot and can be picked up there.
