Principal Message
Hello Wranglers!
I hope this finds each of your families doing well! I am so excited to serve as the Principal at Woodland Elementary this year and wanted to share with you some information about myself!
Through my journey as the Principal Resident at Woodland last year, I was able to meet many of you, but I look forward to getting to know even more families this year! Before coming to Woodland, I served as the Assistant Principal at Gulfside Elementary for four years. I also had the privilege to serve as a coach at Oakstead Elementary for a few months, R.B. Cox Elementary as the ELA ITC Coach for 2 years, and a classroom teacher at Chester Taylor Elementary. Prior to moving to Florida, I also taught in North Carolina for 3 years. The 2024- 2025 school year will by my fourteenth year in education.
On a personal level, I am originally from Northeast Pennsylvania where I attended all my school years and also attended college. I graduated from Thiel College with my bachelors in Elementary Education. After marrying my husband, Cory, we moved to North Carolina to get better weather and then continued south three years later for the beautiful Florida Sunshine! We have been in Florida since 2013 and do not miss the cold and snow. Once we settled into Florida, I completed my master’s degree in Educational Leadership at Saint Leo University. I have one daughter, Chloe, who is entering the third grade and will also be joining the Wrangler family! As a family, we like to camp, swim, travel, family movie nights, and visit Disney Parks. My favorite holiday is Christmas, and it is very common for Christmas music to be playing in my house all year round.
I love that I got to experience and be a part of the Wrangler family last year and look forward to continuing my journey this year! If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at jlegg@pasco.k12.fl.us or 813-794-6400.
Looking forward to a great year!

Arrival Procedures
Arrival Procedures
Arrival Procedures
- Parents who walk or bike with their child to school will drop them off at the main gate by the office. Please do not arrive before 8:25 am.
- Parents will not be able to pull in or park their car in the front parking lot unless needing to go into the office for a matter as this is our EHS/HS drop off loop.
- When dropping off students in the car loop, the driver must pull up to the next available numbered space, put the vehicle in park, stay in the vehicle, and have the child exit on the passenger-side. Students must not get out of the driver-side of the vehicle.
- Follow all arrows and campus traffic signs to ensure the proper flow of traffic.
- Please drive at the appropriate speed within the parking lot.
- All school personnel have the authority to address the appropriate expectations on school campus (which includes parking lot and car loop)
- For safety purposes, please refrain from talking on your cell phone or texting while dropping off and picking up your child.
Dismissal Protocols
Car Line Protocols
- Cars will be unloaded beginning at 8:25am, please do not drop off students before this time, this for safety reasons
- At 8:40am, the front office gate and the car loop will close and parents will need to escort their child into the front office
- Everyone received new car tags at meet the teacher day, if you didn't receive one, please stop by to get one. We are using names this year, not numbers so everyone needed a new car tag
- Stay in your car, one of our staff members will load your student(s)
- If you have forgotten your car tag, you will need to have a picture ID. We will try to check the ID in the carline, but please be prepared to park and go into the office to pick up your student
***Changes***
- Florida state law is that bus loop and car loop remain secured when students are on campus. With this change, the car loop will be closed until 8:15am in the morning and will close at 8:45am. For dismissal, the car loop will open no earlier than 2:00pm. For safety reasons, please do not come earlier than this time to wait for dismissal. The gates will be closed.
Bus Riders
- Students are expected to follow the same rules on the bus as we follow at the school: Be safe, be respectful, be responsible.
- Students must have their ID tag to scan as they enter and exit the bus each day. Please be sure that it stays secure on their backpack.
- If students do not follow the bus expectations, they will be retaught the expectations and then the district protocol of bus referrals is followed:
District Discipline Matrix for Bus Transportation:
- First offense: Up to 2 days off the school bus
- Second offense: 3 days off the school bus
- Third offense: 5 days off of the school bus and a behavior plan put in place
- Fourth offense: 10 days off the school bus
- Fifth offense: may lose the privilege to ride the bus
Walker Gate
- All parents/ guardians picking up must have their car rider tag. Students will not be dismissed without a car rider tag. If you forget your tag, please have your ID ready to present at the front office.
- Walker gate pick up is at 2:50pm. If your student is not picked up on time for more than 3 times, they will be switched to a car rider.
- 'Walk alone' students must have a signed permission slip and will be released without a parent at the gate. When there is lightning, hard rain, tornado watches, or unsafe conditions, walk alone students will not be released without a parent/ guardian
- When the weather is unsafe (lightning, intense rain, tornado watches, etc) all walkers must have someone pick them up, no walk alone students will be released without an adult. Walker students may be picked up at the rainy day location (the white gate by the office) or as a car rider.
School Wide Expectations
Be Responsible: Being responsible is coming to school on time, being prepared and ready to learn, and using good character. It is important to do what is expected and always try your best.
Be Safe: Being safe is making choices that keep yourself and others free from harm. We work hard on teaching Self Control. This is keeping hands, feet, hurtful words and objects to ourselves.
Parents and families can reinforce these same ideas at home and in the community. When we are all using the same language, a child can truly understand and practice these skills.
School Lunches
Pasco County Schools Food & Nutrition Services will be implementing a program called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). All enrolled students of Pasco County Schools are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no charge to their household. No further action is required. Students will be able to participate in these meal programs without having to pay a fee or submit a meal application. A la carte items will still be available for purchase including additional meals and/or components of the meals. Families can reach out to Food & Nutrition Services directly through Let’s Talk, call FNS at 813.794.2480, or email FNS_Finance@pasco.k12.fl.us if they have any questions regarding this new program.
Parents are highly encouraged to make advance payment for a la carte items by utilizing www.MySchoolBucks.com. Any check made to Woodland Elementary that is returned for insufficient fund will be assessed a $25.00 fee.
Cell Phone Policy
For all Pasco County Schools
Grades Pre-K through 5: Students in grades Pre-K through 5 who bring WCDs (wireless communication devices) to school must ensure that they remain on silent mode and completely out of view for the entire school day. Classroom teachers may also provide, and student may utilize, a cell phone storage area in their classroom. Students will need to put their cell phones on silent and their smart watches and put them in the bookbags once arriving on campus each day. Please have a conversation with your child prior to the first day of school so they know that they MUST silence their devices and put them away during the ENTIRE school day- no exceptions. Refer to pg. 32 of the Student Code of Conduct for more details and corrective actions/confiscation of device procedures.
