FREE ThinSlide Template
What is a Thinslide?
Created by Jon Corippo and Marlena Hebern (EduProtocols which is part of the Professional eBook Collection), a Thinslide is a quick, interactive activity where each student creates a single slide that becomes part of a larger class slide deck. The slide contains only one word and one image, focusing on speed and simplicity. The teacher provides a key word, concept, or theme, and students have five minutes to create their slide based on their interpretation of the prompt.
Afterward, students present their slides in rapid succession, giving an 8-12 second explanation from their seats. This fast-paced "whip-around" presentation style ensures that the entire class can contribute quickly, with the goal being to gather input from all students in a brief amount of time.
Google's Notebook LM
What is Google's NotebookLM?
Google’s NotebookLM is a powerful tool designed to help users quickly navigate through long documents, PDFs, websites, and articles. Often, the sheer volume of words in these dense resources can feel overwhelming, making it hard to dive in or find specific information easily.
NotebookLM simplifies this by acting as an instant expert on the documents you provide. It is completely free and can answer questions, summarize content, and even create new, simplified resources from the original material. As of September 2024, NotebookLM also offers podcast-style interviews that summarize texts, making it even easier to absorb information on the go.
For teachers, NotebookLM is a valuable tool for lesson planning, offering quick insights and summaries. Students can use it effectively to reinforce learning and study, making complex materials more accessible.
