PLAN AHEAD FOR DROP OFF AND DISMISSAL
FKAA started a project that will have rolling closures. Please make sure you give yourself enough time in the morning to drop off your student (s) and in the afternoon to pick them up. You may drop them off as early as 7:20am to make sure they arrive on time. Also, there may be some bus stops that will temporarily be out of service while a section is being worked on. Below is the message from FKAA:
Update: FKAA work to resume 3/9 at Tavernier Creek Bridge. A new traffic control plan has been approved by the Florida Department of Transportation, in coordination with the Monroe County School District, and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Details at https://bit.ly/PlantationKeyProject

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK
PKS Teachers and staff were first class riders all week. Our wonderful PTA made us feel special and we were showered with TLC all week! Thank you for a wonderful week!

STUDENT OF THE WEEK 3-5
Olive Wampler is our Student of the Week because she consistently follows our PBIS IBelieve expectations. She shows respect, responsibility, and kindness in everything she does--whether it's helping classmates, staying on task, or making good choices. Olive is also a great friend and classmate who makes others feel included and supported. Great job Olive!
MIDDLE SCHOOL HAPPENINGS
STUDENT OF THE WEEK 6-8
Dylan is always following the IBelieve expectations. He is respectful and ready to learn every day. Dylan does a great job at following directions, is polite, has a positive attitude, and works hard!! Keep up the great work, Dylan!
Elks Lodge #1862 Student Leadership Award
Serenity Scalisi and Isaac Woods were recognized at the Elks banquet, and each received scholarships of $400.

The Plantation Key School National Junior Honor Society inducted 21 new members. Guests enjoyed a solo performance from one of our NJHS members as well as a candle lighting ceremony. Congratulations to the new 2025-2026 inductees.

READERS ARE LEADERS
Readers are Leaders would like to thank Mr. Jesus from our very local 7-11 for giving Middle School students who attended the Superintendent’s Remarkable Readers Awards last week coupons for a FREE small Slurpee!!! Thank you, Mrs. Shugarman, for organizing treats and rewards.
You never know where or when you might see a Poem in your Pocket! All classes were learning a variety of poems during April, National Poetry Month. The kindergarten and 1st Grade classes creating and read several different poems!
Please help your child find and return library books!! I have almost 200 pages of overdue books to print and would love to save a tree (or two or three). Thank you, and Happy Mother’s Day to PKS Moms, Grandmoms, Aunts, and more😊
