Welcome to LYNX Year 8!
LYNX opportunities and services are available to ALL Frederick High School students grades 9-12!
Students are encouraged to attend LYNX experiences with business partners, Learning Lab for academic support from 2:20-3:40 daily, and FREE supper in the cafeteria from 3:40-4:15! These are just a few of the many hallmarks of LYNX that are unique to Frederick High School!

Block 5 American Studies 2
Ms. Jenny Ryan, FHS teacher and 2021 FCPS Teacher of the Year, welcomed students to her American Studies 2 block 5 class that runs daily from 2:20-3:40! We are excited to offer LYNX scholars the opportunity to earn additional credits through block 5 classes, Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM) and LYNX online courses!
Block 5 Class at FHS for FCC credit: "College Success Tools"
FHS students have the opportunity to earn 1 credit from Frederick Community College by taking ACCE 101 - “College Success Tools” at FHS!
Ms. Jocelyn Baier, FHS CTE teacher and FCC adjunct professor, will offer this 5-week course (9 class sessions) for 1 FCC credit in classroom 118 on Tuesdays/Thursdays @ 2:20-3:40 pm during block 5. Class dates are:
October 1, 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, 31
- This opportunity is open to FHS students in grades 9-12.
- There is no cost to the student.
- Maximum number of students per 5-week session = 20
- Students may participate in LYNX supper after class from 3:45-4:15 pm.
- Bus transportation is available at 4:15 pm for enrolled students who are eligible for FCPS bus service.
Interested students should pick up a form from Ms. Moshier, LYNX Secretary in the AP Office.
Registration will close on Friday, September 13. There are only 20 seats available per 5-week session, so seats will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. We anticipate this class will fill quickly, so please turn in your form to Ms. Moshier ASAP.

Academic & Career Engagement Courses @ FCC
ACCE 101 – College Success Tools (1 credit)
Introduces students to tools, strategies, and resources designed to help them build stronger academic foundations and make informed choices that will lead to college success. Students will plan their academic path, improve study habits, and connect to campus and online resources to enhance their educational experience and achieve their goals.
*Note: 10th graders planning to apply for FCC’s “Early College” option should not enroll in this course at FHS. Early College students will be required to take a similar course at FCC during the summer prior to beginning their program.
Learning Lab in the FHS Media Center
When? Daily from 2:20-3:40 pm
All FHS students have the option to sign up for the Learning Lab using the "LYNX iPhone" landing page posted in the LYNX FHS 2024-25 Schoology group.
Students must sign up by 1:15 pm on the day they plan to attend.
- Students must enter the media center by 2:30 pm.
- LYNX staff will assign seating.
- Students must work on class assignments until 3:40 pm.
The media center closes at the 3:40 pm bell.
All students report to the cafeteria for supper and bus service.
Students may sign out before 3:40 pm if they are car riders/walkers.
Free Supper at FHS!
When? Daily from 3:40-4:15 pm
Supper is available FREE to ALL Frederick High School students daily in the cafeteria from 3:40-4:15pm. Menus are available on the FCPS website!
