Off to a JAGGY Start!
Thurgood Marshall Middle School is on the rise! Since our doors opened in Sept, we have been busy keeping students engaged, connecting with families, partnering and networking to provide an exemplary education for our baby Jags and families! Check out some of our highlights!
Student Recognition & Activities
A true melting pot!
Did you know that Thurgood Marshall is a school community of 13 different languages amongst our student body?! Did you know that TMMS has a large autism population? Did you know that we have a bilingual program? Did you know that we have over 25% of our students enrolled in athletics? Rest assured that your child is immersed in a diverse, engaging learning community! What better way to prepare middle schoolers for the real world of justice, access and growth!
Staff Development and Training
A great school requires a great staff. Our staff members engage in professional learning throughout the week, learn and grow from each other. We are grounded in equity, providing access to students, and being life long learners.
Making Marshall Moves!
Thurgood Marshall Middle School has so much to offer! Along with having a strong academic program, coupled with Expeditionary Learning and real-world applications, TMMS is very diverse, welcoming & maintains a strong foundation in social justice. Through CREW, our House system, our student voice program and strong relationships, we teach our students how to be agents of change. Look out for us in the community, making change and.....Marshall Moves! In the month of October, a group of our students will make stops in the community to meet our neighbors, tell them more about our school, and make connections.
About Live School Points! (aka Jimmy Jag bucks)
Each day in classes, students can earn Jimmy Jag bucks (Live School points) for doing the right thing, excelling academically, being responsible and/or demonstrating our school values. As points accumulate, students can use their Jimmy Jag bucks to shop! They can purchase prizes & gifts from our School Store, they can purchase VIP entry to our Student Lounge, purchase take out lunch, buy admission into dances and trips, and much more! Ask your child to show you their Live School check (pictured below) that they earned last week! Parents can also access their child's progress and performance with Jimmy Jag bucks by scanning the bar code on their child's check!

Featured House of the Month: TRUTH HOUSE!
Our Houses are competing to be the first House to earn 100 team points. Houses earn points through Live School bucks, having good attendance and good grades. Currently the TRUTH HOUSE is in the lead! The Houses that are the first and second to earn 100 team points will have the opportunity to attend a trip to NOVA or Horizon Skating!
On the Horizon! Save the Dates!
- October 11th, Future Fair for 7th Graders
For 7th graders who signed up, there will be a Future Fair at St. John Fisher College on Oct 11th. TMMS plans to take 50 students on this field trip.

Parents, stop by between 4pm and 6pm! We would love to discuss your child's progress! You will recieve your child's progress report so you have updated grades when meeting with teachers.
- October 18th: Breast Cancer Walk
During 8th and 9th periods, our school will host a Breast Cancer Walk on our new turf field! This event is for TMMS students and staff, but there will be other opportunities for families and the community to join us.

Students will take a school photo with Lifetouch. Families can also order photo packages.
- October 31st: Harvest Dance!
Our students are just an inch away from earning the Dance that they are advocating for! If we meet our mark of having 85% of students take the IReady diagnostic and keep our daily attendance above 85%, students are invited to a Harvest Dance Oct 31st, 2:30pm-4:30pm at TMMS. Cost is FREE, but students should bring spending money if they want to purchase snacks or food. Students must have transportation home. Any deductions in Live School will result in disqualification from the dance!
