Our PTA Ice Cream Social is right around the corner. Please see details below as this will be a great way to close out the year.
Please Help
Join the Coolidge PTA on Wednesday, June 5th from 6-7:30pm for our annual Ice Cream Social! This is a FREE event for families to gather at and celebrate the end of the year. There will be chalk, bubbles, and the playground is open to play at. Students MUST be accompanied by an adult during the entire event. Our top four fundraisers will get to paint the principal at the social!
If you are willing to volunteer a little bit of your time that evening we could still use some help! Please sign up here:

FREE BOOKS FOR COOLIDGE STUDENTS
We are so very excited to share that EVERY student at Coolidge will get to pick out 5 books of their choice from our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair beginning on 5/29-6/4. Your child's classroom teacher will inform you when your child will be attending the book fair. We would like to thank Central Office for applying for the Grant to support Summer Reading!
IMPORTANT: Bus Transportation Request for 2024-2025
Good Afternoon LPS Families, As we begin to draw the school year to a close, we are busy planning for the 2024-2025 school year and would like to request your assistance! If your child will need, and is eligible for, bus transportation, please follow the instructions below to make your request in Parent Connect. PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR REQUEST AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. To assist us with building the bus routes with anticipated limited staff/drivers, we ask that you ONLY request transportation if your family plans to utilize the service on a regular basis (you plan to use the bus M-F or plan to use the bus for part of the week: M, W, F, for example). Please do not request transportation as a “back-up plan” if your family does not intend to utilize the service. We appreciate your thoughtful approach to making your request. If your child has transportation via an IEP, you do not need to register, as those arrangements will be made separately for your child. Livonia Public Schools provide bus service for students who live more than 1.0 mile from school (grades K-6) and more than 1.5 miles for grades 7-12, as determined by the district’s routing software mapping system. IMPORTANT: If your child will be in the ACAT, MACAT, MSC or CAPA magnet programs next year, please make your transportation request by CLICKING ON THIS FORM instead of filling out the update on Parent Connect. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Log into Parent Connect (you may access from the LPS website, under the Parents tab or via your school website’s Parents tab). This process is most easily completed on a computer, rather than on a cell phone. 2. Once you are logged in, click on the “Back to School Checklist” red link at the top of the screen. 3. From there, click on the “Update Information” button next to the “Updates Incomplete” message that appears in red. 4. Click on “Transportation,” then select “Yes” from the mini-dropdown menu in the center of the screen. 5. Click on “Updates Complete” and then “Return to main menu” at the top left. Your request will automatically be submitted to our Transportation Department. Routes will be posted in late August in Parent Connect, under the Transportation section. Thank you for assisting us with our pre-school-year planning!

No Pets Allowed
As the days get warmer we are seeing more pets at Cooldige. This is just a reminder that pets are not allowed on school grounds at arrival and dismissal. We LOVE our furry friends but some students/staff are nervous around pets or are allergic to them. Thank you for understanding.
To the parents of students with medical needs:
In the next few weeks, you will be receiving an envelope with copies of your child’s Individual Health Care Plan and/or Medication Authorization forms. These important forms need to be updated each school year. Please have the forms completed by your child’s physician this summer and return them prior to the start of the 2024-25 school year. For safety reasons, medications cannot be sent to school in your child’s backpack. Please plan to stop by the office to drop off all medications and paperwork. If you would like to meet with Mrs. Rand to discuss your child’s health care plan, please reach out at arand@livoniapublicschools.org.
Please remember that completed plans must have your signature and the physician's signature and we require a Medication Authorization form for EACH medication. All medications need to come in their original packing and prescription medications need to have the prescription label attached.
Please pick up any medication your child may have at Coolidge no later than June 7, 2024. You may reach out to schedule a pick-up time or stop by the office during business hours 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Summer Care Solace Messaging for end of year
Summer is just around the corner, and it's time to start planning your warm-weather activities! As you make your summer to-do list, prioritize self-care and well-being.
- Embrace the great outdoors. Spending time outside has numerous benefits, such as reducing stress and anxiety, improving mood, and boosting creativity. Consider activities like walking, hiking, biking, gardening, or relaxing in a shady park.
- Make time for loved ones. It's easy to get caught up in our daily routines and miss out on quality time with friends and family. This summer, prioritize reconnecting with your loved ones through shared meals, game nights, movie nights, or simply picking up the phone for a catch-up call.
- Prioritize sleep. During busy times, our sleep habits can suffer. Make an effort to establish a consistent sleep schedule and give your body the rest it deserves.
Most importantly, have fun and do something that brings you joy each day. Whether trying a new hobby, indulging in a favorite activity or simply taking time to relax and unwind, make sure to prioritize your happiness this summer.
If you or a family member are struggling with mental health or substance use issues, remember that help is available. Care Solace, a complimentary and confidential coordination service provided by Livonia Public Schools, is available 24/7/365 throughout the summer to help you find mental health care or substance use treatment providers. Call 888-515-0595 for multilingual support or visit caresolace.com/livonia to search for providers on your own or receive assistance through video chat, email, or phone.
We wish you a happy and healthy summer break, and we'll see you again soon!

COOLIDGE DROP OFF AND PICK UP PROCEDURES
Drop off and pick up are stressful times in our parking lot. Please drive slowly, be patient and obey the following procedures at all times. Our children’s safety is most important during these times.
The Parking lot / Parent Walk Up- The parking lot can be used for drop off or pick up. Your car should be parked in a parking spot and you will need to utilize the crosswalk to walk your child to and from the school doors.
Your child should NEVER be in the parking lot without you at their side. The ONLY place that parking or sitting is permitted, is in a designated parking space. Parking anywhere else could prevent our buses from coming or going.
Crosswalks - We have three crosswalks in the parking lot. Please come to a complete stop at each one and use them to cross when walking across the lot.
LOOP -PARENT PICK-UP
The Loop (Recommended) – The loop can be used for drop off or pick up. Students should remain in their cars until the car has come to a complete stop in the painted half circle area. Please do not let your child out of the car, or wave your child to your car, while you are in any other part of the loop area or driveway. Do not leave the loop area until the vehicle in front of you has left.
When using the loop this school year we ask that you place a sign in your car with your last name. Please place the sign in the passenger's side window. One of our staff members will greet you by the opening of the loop. They will then let your child know which numbered spot you will be meeting them at.
