Walker Elementary
Wildcat Corner December 2024
Dear Families,
Thank you all for attending our Fall Festival on November 15th! We had an amazing evening that was packed with fun. Your support and generosity helped us raise around $7,000. Amazing! These funds will help us continue our Garden Days (lessons in the garden) and help with end of year celebrations. We are looking forward to making it bigger and better next year. Thank you again for your support.
We also had a fantastic time on our Field Days on November 20th and 21st. The students had a great time! Thank you to all of our families for coming out to support our teams.
As the year winds down and the holiday season approaches, we wanted to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support of Walker. We hope all of our Wildcat families have a wonderful holiday break. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

Counselor Corner
Notice to Parents
Dear Parent or Guardian,
Texas Senate Bill 9 requires written parent/guardian consent before a student is provided with curriculum instruction related to child anti-victimization. Our counselors, administrators, and faculty will be presenting information on Child Anti-Victimization on the following days:
December 9th , 2024
December 16, 2024
Please note, that Child Anti-Victimization instruction includes topics such as Strangers, Hurts, Secrets, Safe/not-safe touches as well as as prevention of child abuse, family violence, and harassment. Educating students on developing healthy relationships and behaviors can improve their overall health and wellness. Our district has adopted curriculum from “We Help Ourselves (WHO)” for our elementary students.
Our district is confident the information presented to students on this topic is age and grade-level appropriate; however, parents have the right to view the curriculum and/or remove their child from this instruction. Please indicate on the letter being sent home with your student if you would prefer for your student to opt in or opt out of the child anti-victimization instruction then return it to school. If we do not receive your signed consent on or before November 22nd, your child will not receive the important anti-victimization instruction. If permission is not granted, your child will participate in an alternative instructional activity provided in a separate location on our campus. Please note, there is not any disciplinary actions nor academic penalties for opting out of the anti-victimization lessons and reporting to a separate area, they will not be subject to disciplinary action or academic penalty.
If you have any questions, please visit our district webpage where the lessons can be found:

Transportation Changes
We understand that sometimes your child's transportation needs to be changed, we do ask that you keep in mind when making these changes the impact that it makes on the systems that we have in place. Dismissal is a very busy time and our focus is safety. We kindly request that any and all transportation changes be made prior to 3:00pm daily. After 3:00pm we will not be able to make transportation changes due to students preparing for end of day dismissal. We appreciate your support with making sure our students are safely organized for dismissal.

Street Safety Tips:
Street Safety Tips:
- Always Use Crosswalks: Choose the safest path. Cross at designated crosswalks or intersections. It's the safest way to get across the street.
- Look Left, Right, and Left Again: Before crossing, stop and look both ways to ensure no cars are approaching.
- Wait for the Walk Signal: If there is a traffic light or pedestrian signal, wait for the "walk" sign before crossing.
- Make Eye Contact with Drivers: Make sure that drivers see you before crossing in front of a car.
- Avoid Distractions: When crossing the street, do not use phones, headphones, or other items that can distract you. Stay alert and focused.
- Be Aware of Turning Vehicles: Even when the light is green, look out for cars turning the corner or making unexpected moves.
- Walk, Don’t Run: Walk, don’t run, across the street to avoid tripping or not noticing oncoming traffic.
