Junior Leadership Applications
The North Augusta Chamber of Commerce Foundation is excited to announce that applications for the 2024 Junior Leadership Academy (JLA) are now open. This highly esteemed program is specifically designed to provide rising 9th graders in the Aiken County area with the tools and resources necessary for successful leadership development.
Throughout the month of June, participants will engage in a comprehensive curriculum, which includes identifying their own characteristics, personality traits, and strengths, as well as gaining an understanding of community needs, opportunities, challenges, and resources. The program will also provide ample opportunities for developing communication, team-building, and leadership skills while allowing students to interact with peers from other schools, community leaders, and decision-makers. This exciting program is designed to help students develop important leadership skills, learn about their community, and make valuable connections with local leaders.
The JLA program is open to public, private, and homeschool students, with an application deadline of 4 pm on Thursday, March 28, 2024 (DEADLINE EXTENDED TO FRIDAY, APRIL 26th). The program consists of an orientation, seven full-day sessions, a half-day session and graduation ceremony.

SC Ready Testing
March 25, 2024
Dear Parent or Guardian,
Starting in mid-May, all students in grades three through eight will participate in South Carolina's state assessments.
SC READY assessments in English language arts and math will be administered to all students in grades three through eight. SC READY assessments in Science will be administered to fourth and sixth graders only. SC Ready assessments are designed to measure student progress on the South Carolina College and Career Readiness Standards in these content areas.
The schedule for all end-of-year assessments can be found on the District's website. Go to Departments >Office of Accountability and Evaluation> Year-End Testing Calendar https://www.acpsd.net/OAA
None of the evaluations are timed; Students will have as much time as they need to complete the test, within the school day. Each assessment is conducted on a separate day so that students have enough time between assessments, usually taken at the end of the year.
Your child is scheduled for the following days:
SC Ready in Writing - Wednesday, April 17, 2024
SC Ready in Writing - Tuesday, May 14, 2024
SC Ready in Reading - Thursday, May 16, 2024
SC Ready in Math - Tuesday, May 21, 2024
SC Ready in Science - Thursday, May 23, 2024
We ask for your support to ensure that your child is well-rested, has eaten a nutritious breakfast, and arrives at school on time and ready for the exam. Students will participate in an online tutorial to familiarize themselves with the test format. Students are encouraged to practice the tutorial at home as well, which can be accessed by visiting:
https://assets.drcedirect.com/States/SC/Tutorials/Student/201702/index.html
We also encourage you to reinforce the "Writer's Checklist" with your child at home. The checklist includes important things for the student to remember when writing a good essay and can be found by visiting the ACPSD (Aiken County Public School District) Family Assessment Guide at the link below.
More information can be found in the attached brochures or by visiting the Office of Accountability and Evaluation section of our website on http://www.acpsd.net/OAA.
Thank you for all you do at home to support a quality education.
Kind regards
Kate Olin, Director, Office of Accountability and Evaluation
