Inclement Weather Information
Hello Families,
There may be occasions when attending school due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances may not be advisable. Student safety and learning is always the top priority for Millard Public Schools. With that in mind, MPS will utilize a few options including 1) canceling school 2) a 2-hour late start, or 3) a remote learning day.
The District will communicate with staff and families when we may need to utilize one of these options. Please see the Inclement Weather Information on the district website, to help your family plan ahead.
A Canceled Day
On a day when school is canceled, schools are closed and no student work is assigned.
2 Hour Late Start Days
The middle school late start time of 9:55 a.m. will be the start time Monday through Friday, should a late start day be called. On late start days, the AMS doors will open at 9:00 a.m.
Bus pick up will run two hours late based on the regular Tuesday through Friday pick up schedule. For example, if your student gets picked up at 7:05, they will be picked up at 9:05 on a late start day.
Remote Learning Days
During a remote learning day, students stay home. A remote learning day allows students to stay on track with the curriculum.
Teachers have spoken with each of their classes to clearly explain what to expect on a remote learning day and have reviewed the points below.
Teachers will post assignments by 8:15 a.m. on the remote learning day. This will be communicated via Google Classroom or through email.
These assignments will have a learning objective and will take approximately 15-20 minutes of time to complete.
Teachers will check their email from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on a remote learning day to help answer questions students may have.
A teacher may assign a task that will be added in the grade book when submitted. A teacher may also assign an ungraded activity to prepare students for the following day’s lesson.
A student will still have an extra day to complete the assignment once back in school.
If a teacher is sick on a remote learning day, they will communicate this with their students via Google Classroom.
We hope this information helps you better plan for inclement weather days. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Eric Grandgenett
Principal
