Autism Awareness Month
April is Autism Awareness Month. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurobiological disorder impacting individual’s social and communication skills as well as repetitive behaviors and restricted interests. Autism rates continue to increase and we must show acceptance and understanding of individuals and families living with ASD. The puzzle piece and a blue porch light have come to represent autism and autism awareness. You can find more information on ASD at www.autismspeaks.org or https://scautism.org
Let’s show our acceptance and spread awareness by coloring the puzzle pieces and displaying them in our windows or doors. You and your children could drive around to see if you spot any puzzle pieces around the community. Keep track of how many different puzzle pieces or blue lights you see during the month of April. Please take pictures of you with your puzzle pieces and share them with us at Florence 1 Schools; send to Melissa Rollins at mrollins@fsd1.org
