St. Gabriel Education Centre
September 2, 2022
Welcome Back!
It's been so great to see so many of you this past week (in person and online)! We are so excited to be back working with you. We have a lot of new students this year which is so great to see! We're happy that the great work our teachers do with students is getting out into the community. Please continue to spread the good news about St. Gabes!
We are continuing to offer in-person, online and blended programming for our high school students. We also welcomed our online Junior High to St. Gabriel Education Centre this year. Our parents and students reported that online delivery for education worked so well that they wanted to continue with this mode of learning. The Greater St. Albert Catholic School Board listened and responded by supporting this program at St. Gabes. We are very grateful for their support.
We're excited to continue to work with you and your families this year. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our staff.
Many Blessings,
Mrs. Renee Trottier, principal

Dual Credit Courses Available
Dual credit is optional career-based high school programming. It can assist students in making meaningful transitions to post-secondary education or the workplace. School authorities have the flexibility to develop and implement dual credit programming that provides students with relevant learning experiences.
We are in a position to offer a new opportunity for dual credit to our students due to the Government of Alberta Dual Credit Grant. For the 2022-23 school year, As part of our commitment to our students and their futures, our school division endeavours to offer programming that provides dual credit opportunities to our community’s high school students. Through Dual Credit experiences, students will earn college/ university credits from a post-secondary institution and high school credits from their school by completing this coursework. These programs are offered in partnership with St. Albert Public Schools, Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools, Elk Island Public Schools, Norquest College, Portage College and Alberta Education.
For further information, please click on the St.Albert Schools shared website page for dual credit which can be found here:

Saint Gabriel the Archangel - Patron Saint of messengers
Saint Gabriel serves as a messenger of God to the people. He is one of three Archangels whose feast day is celebrated on Sept. 29. Saint Gabriel shares his feast day with Saint Michael and St. Raphael. In the Old Testament, Saint Gabriel first appeared to Daniel to help him interpret his visions. In the New Testament, he appears again to Zacharias and tells him that Elizabeth, Zacharias' wife will give birth to a son called, John who will eventually go on to be called John the Baptist and he will baptize Jesus. In the gospel of Luke, Gabriel appears again to Mary to inform her that she will give birth to the Son of God and she will call him Jesus. Gabriel is considered to be the closest to God, to the point of being referred to as the "left hand of God". He brings God's messages to us in ways that we can understand so that we can listen with a pure heart and accept the will of God.
A Prayer to Saint Gabriel
O God,
who from among
all your angels chose
the Archangel Gabriel
to announce the mystery
of the Incarnation,
mercifully grant that
we who solemnly remember him
on earth may feel the benefit of
his patronage in heaven,
who lives and reigns
forever and ever.
Amen
