🩸 Join us for Stop the Bleed Training!
Did you know that severe bleeding can result in death within 3-5 minutes if left untreated?
Quick action can save lives, and that’s where Stop the Bleed comes in. This nationwide initiative is designed to equip bystanders with the skills to control bleeding in emergency situations. It’s a powerful tool to have, and we’re offering you the chance to learn it!
In accordance with Texas House Bill 496, Sec. 38.030, all Texas school districts are required to establish a Traumatic Injury Response Protocol to address emergencies involving severe blood loss. This law mandates the placement of bleeding control stations throughout the school in easily accessible areas. It also requires that Stop the Bleed training be available to all staff and students in grades 7-12.
The training is OPTIONAL but highly encouraged. It only takes about 20 minutes, and the skills
you learn could one day help save a life. For more details about Stop the Bleed, visit BLEEDINGCONTROL.ORG.
If you are interested in viewing the videos that explain the general steps of the training, please
sign up by completing the survey using this link: https://forms.gle/jopSgSb34o8LcZxUA.
The training videos will be added to your Canvas account for you to watch at your convenience.
After completing the video portion, sign up for the hands-on skills session, which will be offered
at each middle school. The available dates for the hands-on training will be emailed to you once
you've completed the video portion.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Brittany Jones, BS, RN at Brittany.Jones@pfisd.net.
Take a few minutes to empower yourself—you never know when these skills could make a life- changing difference!

Dessau Middle Schoolers Dive into the Future: Hands-On Career Exploration Shines at ACC's Make It Center Tour!
Recently, a group of enthusiastic Dessau Middle School students got a firsthand look at the
future of work during a visit to the Make It Center at Austin Community College. The students
explored in-demand careers through hands-on activities, discovering exciting possibilities in
fields like healthcare, manufacturing, technology, and skilled trades.
The Make It Center is designed to ignite curiosity and show students pathways they might not
have considered. From operating advanced machinery to simulating medical procedures, the
students had a blast trying out tools and tasks that professionals use every day.
The Pathways to Careers course is designed to help young minds engage with and explore
career options that align with industry needs. Students in the course also learn about
postsecondary education options, how to select their own postsecondary pathway based on
career goals, and design their graduation plan and high school course plan. Additionally,
students are developing employability skills that will give them an edge in a competitive
workplace. The course is available to all grade 8 students in the district and is offered at every
middle school campus.
🎶 Fine Arts
Middle School One Act Play
Theatre students from all seven middle schools participated in the One Act Play Zone Contest last Friday and Saturday.
They had the opportunity to perform for the judges as well as support the performances by students from other campuses. The teamwork, collaboration, and student leadership was incredible to see!
Congratulations to all! BMS, CMS, DMS, and KLMS will represent us at the district contest this weekend. Way to go!
Follow the Fine Arts Department on Facebook & Instagram, and check out the Fine Arts Calendar to see what other great work our students are doing across the district!
