Eagle Eye - March 2025

March is a transitional month in our educational world - 3rd quarter becomes 4th, winter becomes spring and the winter activities season gives way to the spring season. Students participate in an array of events at Windom Area High School and many have success beyond the season. Our Robotics team has a World's entrant for the May World's meet and Ada Lund & Kameron Koerner both earned state tournament bids in gymnastics & wrestling respectively. It is always nice to celebrate the successes, but the impact of arts and athletic involvement reaches far beyond the wins and losses. Students who are active in activities have higher rates of attendance and a higher overall GPA. At the same time, the relationships forged make involvement in activities such a valuable life opportunity. The MN Dental Sealant Program will return to the MSHS this year! They provide oral health checks, apply dental varnish, and place sealants if necessary. These services are available at a reduced cost if uninsured or free if you have dental insurance.

More information is available HERE. If you want your student to receive dental services, please complete the online consent form.

We have partnered with Avera to offer two in-school immunization clinics at no out-of-pocket cost! They will be here on April 11 to provide the required Tdap and meningococcal vaccines to students entering 7th grade in the fall. On April 25, they will provide the required 2nd dose of meningococcal for students entering 12th grade in the fall. Paperwork will be sent home with your student and emailed over the next couple of weeks. We will need that completed and returned by March 15 if you'd like to take advantage of this opportunity!

Should Windom Schools cancel school and utilize student E-Learning, HS students will have course materials to complete electronically and this content will be available in Infinite Campus and/or Schoology. Students who do not have internet available at home can complete coursework for E-Learning within 48 hours of returning to school. Middle school students will have materials sent home to complete and return when school resumes.

Reminder - if your student will be absent, please let our office know by calling 507-831-6910 or by emailing attendancemshs@isd177.com. We now have an office cell phone that you can text/call - the number for the office cell is 507-221-3511. All absences require a notice within 48 hours, at that point the absence becomes unexcused.
