October 24th through October 27th
What we learned this week...
- Language Arts: Throughout the week, students discussed non fiction stories and aspects of non fiction writings as they learn all about bats and spiders! Studentsl learned about the parts of non fiction books as they discuss various facts and opinions about bats and spiders as they got ready for Halloween!
- Phonics: Students learned all about the shape, sound, and use of the uppercase and lowercase letters O and P. We worked with these letters throughout the week as we practiced manipulating and listening for their sounds throughout our weekly reading.
- Sight Words: This week, students learned three new sight words this week: have, can, and is. Students practiced reading, writing, and identifying these words in their weekly writing and reading activities.
- Mathematics: Students continued to work through their numbers as they begin learning about the mean teens! Students worked on their one to one correspondence, ten frames, building numbers, and recognizing number patterns. Using pumpkin manipulatives, students practiced creating their mean teens in drawings, graphs, and ten frames!
- Social Studies: Students began their Giving Without Walls project this week as they begin discussing veterans and service officers and why they are important to celebrate. Throughout the week, students created posters, decorated boxes, and created a commercial for candy collection for Treats for Troops. Students will be collecting candy from all classrooms as they sort and weigh the candy before handing it off to Treats for Troops!

Classroom Reminders
- Please send your child into school daily with a HEALTHY, quick snack.
- All paper work is due to Ms. Lauren at the front desk.
- Take your Daily Communication Folder home daily. As the year goes on, there will be more papers and assignments being sent home.
- Our school day begins promptly at 8:25 am
- Please remember to send back the guided reading books along with their book logs every Friday. The books will then be sent home again on Fridays to keep.
Good Bye Sai!!
Sai will be leaving the Chesterbrook Family this Friday. We are so sad to say goodbye to him. He has been a shining star and a wonderful part of the family. We wish him all the best, and know he wil do great things! Good Luck Sai we will miss you!
