8th Grade Field Trip - December 2nd 2024
For the first time ever, Quest eighth graders will be participating in a field trap to International Towne at the Young AmeriTowne Center in Cherry Creek on December 2nd.
In order to help make this a successful experience, we need 16 volunteers for this field trip. The volunteers for this field trip will be responsible for several tasks. Before signing up, it is important to understand the commitment that is necessary.
If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the form sent home this with your student and return it to Mrs. Veen by November 20, 2024. We will notify the parents who have been chosen to chaperone by November 22, 2024 via email. If you do not receive an email response by 4:00 pm on November 22, it means that you have not been selected to attend. Please include the email address that you would like to be notified at below. If you have any questions, please email Middle School Counselor Ms. Veen at: snveen@aurorak12.org
School Reminders
Early Pick Up
We will ask you to wait until dismissal if you arrive after 2:15 p.m.
If you will be late for pick up and your child is in Boys & Girls Club we will send them to the club where they can be supervised. As a reminder the office closes at 3:15 p.m.
Before School Entrance
Please remember that we have no supervision available before 7:20 a.m. Unless your student is enrolled in the before care program of the Boys & Girls Club students should not be dropped off earlier than 7:20 a.m.
If you need to drop them off before 7:20 a.m. please enroll in the before school cared offered here at Quest.
Dr. Haddock advocated heartedly to have this resource available for parents.
Please understand that staff cannot be responsible for students before 7:20 a.m.
Before School Arrival
Students must enter the school through the playground doors to go to breakfast which begins at 7:20 a.m. We will be going back to this practice in order to limit the traffic coming in and out of the school's front entrance doors.
From 7:20 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. the doors leading to the corridor will be locked so students must go around to the playground to enter for breakfast.
Only students accompanied by their parents will be allowed to enter the school before 7:45 a.m.
During inclement weather, students will be allowed to enter through door #2 beginning at 7:20 a.m. (This door can be found to the left of the front entrance.
Late Arrivals
If your student is arriving at 7:40, they still have time to make it to class. Be sure to drop them off in front of the school and not by the bus loop behind the school. They may not be able to get in and will have to walk all the way around the school which will definitely make them late.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Prospective Student Family - Mentors Needed!
Our application window has opened for families to apply. We would like to offer the opportunity for prospective families to get support from families already attending Quest. We especially need families who speak another language. You would help guide them through the application process, advise and just make sure their paperwork is in order. If you are interested, willing and able to mentor a family applying to Quest, please reach out to Mr. Adams so he can get things organized.
Thank you families for your Thanksgiving food donations! Sponsored by NJHS!
Pertussis update and alert: So far this this year Colorado has had more than 600 confirmed
cases of pertussis (whooping cough) compared to 203 in 2023 with the highest impact in school.
Pertussis is highly contagious with symptoms including a βwhoopβ like cough. Vaccination is
strongly recommended.
Measles update: The Center for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO)
reported a greater than 20% increase in measles cases worldwide. Of the cases around 107,000
persons died, mostly young persons. Measles is essentially preventable through vaccination.
One dose is 93% effective, and two doses is 97% effective. Since the pandemic routine
vaccination numbers have dropped with kindergarten being below the federal target the past four
years. Colorado mandates immunizations for children in public schools. Measles is a serious
contagious disease that can lead to death. Unimmunized children will be excluded from
childcare and school for 21 days after the last case of measles. If you have questions about
immunizations, please contact me. Measles is not just a rash.
E coli. If you have purchased baby carrots in the last few weeks, please throw them away or
return them to the original store. Then, clean the area the carrots were stored. There is an
increasing outbreak of E coli associated with consumption of baby carrots.
Vaccination/Immunization update: I will be uploading the Quest immunization report by
December 1 st . Thank you to all the parents/guardians who sent updated records. Currently Quest
has a 98.4% vaccination/immunization rate (vaccinated students) and a 99.7% response rate
(exemptions and non-vaccinated). If there is an outbreak of a disease that is preventable by
vaccination/immunization all unvaccinated students will be excluded from attending school per
APS policy. Depending on the disease, exclusion can range from 6-21 days with an additional 6-
21 days of the student contracts the disease.
Please check backpacks, email, voice messages, and Talking Points for messages about vision or
hearing results.
The dry cold weather increased the risk of nosebleeds. Using humidifiers is very helpful.
Please let me know if you have questions.

Winter Fest
We are partnering with STUCO for this fun filled event and will be hosting a silent auction. If you own and or know someone that owns a small business and would be interested in making a donation please let us know! In order to make this event fun for everyone, we will be looking for volunteers to help out in 30 minute increments so everyone has an opportunity to enjoy.
We will be sharing our auction items ahead of time so you can plan ahead!
Where does the money go?
PTA looks very different from what we thought, until we joined and learned all the stuff that PTA either supports or is responsible for funding throughout the school year. We provide the funds for transportation to field trips, which has increased by 50% in the last year. We provide teachers with a budget for classroom enrichment as well as a small allowance for class supplies. We will be reviewing and voting on our budget at the next meeting which would be a great opportunity for you to see first hand where the money is planned to go.
