Our mission is to empower and inspire a community of lifelong learners and leaders!
Dear Pleasant Valley Families,
Thank you, Fathers, Mentors, and VIPs, for participating in our Father's Walk yesterday! It was great to see you at school!
Please click here to view our State Report Card for the 2022-23 School Year! We earned an overall raring of 4 Stars- Exceeding State Expectations! I will share an overview of the components and our current School Improvement Plan that we are currently working on later during our November PTA meeting.
Reminder...Our School-wide Fundraiser Ends next week! All orders are due by Thursday, September 28th. Please take these final days to ask friends and family for their support! We need your help to make this project a success. If you haven't already done so, please take about 3 minutes to view the following presentation, introducing you to the fundraiser. CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE PV FUNDRAISER VIDEO. Profits from this sale go to provide many projects and activities for ALL of our Pleasant Valley students throughout the year.
Please participate in the Annual Fundraiser if you can.
Please keep this in mind... If you hear something from your child that doesn’t seem right, immediately check with your child’s teacher. Should safety ever be compromised, I will promptly notify all families. Creating a safe, orderly, and welcoming learning environment is critical to educating and preparing our students to achieve their highest potential. The safety of your children will always be at the forefront. We have a very dedicated staff who work hard to ensure your child is welcomed and dismissed safely daily, whether via car, bus, or walking.
I want to thank you for your partnership with Pleasant Valley! We are very appreciative of all of you! If you have any questions, concerns, or just a great idea you would like to share, please email me at bokas@parmacityschools.org or call the main office at 440.843.3867 any weekday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Very Sincerely Yours,
Mrs. Stephanie Boka
Electronic Device Policy
We ask that any student coming to school with a cell phone or smart watch to keep it turned off and stored in their backpack. Below is the message pulled directly from our parent/student handbook.
TELEPHONE USAGE/ELECTRONIC DEVICES/PERSONAL ITEMS
We strongly suggest that ALL electronics, devices, and personal items be kept at home. If any electronics or devices are brought to school, they need to be turned off and kept out of sight inside a backpack/book bag and in the child’s assigned locker. Pleasant Valley is not responsible for lost, damaged, stolen, vandalized, or traded items that children bring to school. Students may not use cellular phones or personal electronic communication devices (ECD) including smart watches while at school.
Students are not permitted to use school telephones without the permission of the teacher or office. Messages to students will only be allowed in emergency situations. WE STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT CELLPHONES AND SMART WATCHES ARE NOT BROUGHT TO SCHOOL. IF IT IS NECESSARY FOR YOUR CHILD TO HAVE A CELL PHONE OR SMART WATCH, IT SHOULD BE TURNED OFF AND KEPT SECURELY IN YOUR CHILD’S BACKPACK.

Parents of Car Riders ***IMPORTANT ***
Thank you for your patience throughout the first week of school as we worked to change the carrider procedure to increase effciency. With the addition of over 150 Kindergarten students starting on Tuesday, please continue to be patient as students, staff, and parents all learn the new procedures.
Please review and follow the below procedures.
Parents must remain in the car during drop off and pick up.
All STEM students must enter and exit on the driver's side of the car. All Traditional studnets must enter and exit from the passenger's side of the car.
Students should be practicing how to enter and exit the car on their own. As soon as your car is stopped and in the appropriate areas please encourage students to get out and on the sidewalk as quickly as possible.
For dismissal, display your car rider number on your front dashboard or mirror.
Practice your car rider number with your child.
Please visit this link for more information on the arrival and dismissal procedures for the 2023-2024 school year.
For more information about procedures at Pleasant Valley, please utilize the following link to access our Parent/Student handbook.
Attendance Procedures
If your child is going to be absent, please call our office at: 440-843-3867 no later then 9:50 am. If the absence requires a doctor's visit, please provide a doctor’s note when they return to school. Daily student attendance is a vital component of student academic success. With the requirements of House Bill 410, the state of Ohio requires each school district to communicate with families when a child is considered chronically absent.
For additional information on HB 410, please visit this link.

Birthday "Treats" & Invites
If a generous family would like their child to pass out a birthday treat, we recommend a non-edible one that can be passed out and sent home at the end of the day.
If you DO NOT want your child to receive a birthday treat from a classmate, please let their teacher know.
Gifts for students may not be delivered to the school. Balloon deliveries, gift baskets, flowers, etc. disrupt the educational process for all students. Birthday parties during the school day can not be accommodated.
Please check with the classroom teacher before sending any birthday or other treats to school for the class.
Some of our children have food allergies; therefore, all treats must be ready to pass out to the class, store-bought, labeled with ingredients, and individually wrapped.
Store-bought cupcakes in a sealed container with an ingredient label are also acceptable.
Distributing invitations to non-school activities such as birthday parties is prohibited unless all students of at least one gender in the class are invited.
