That The Corporal Works of Mercy are found in the teachings of Jesus and give us a model for how we should treat others, as if they were Christ in disguise. One of The Corporal Works of Mercy is "Give Drink to the Thirsty”, which calls us to provide for the physical needs of those who lack access to clean water or who suffer from thirst. Some ideas that we can do to give drink to the thirsty are:

◻Donate water to shelters or in an emergency situation

◻ Offer to get drinks for your friends or family members

◻ Run a lemonade stand and donate the profits, or just give the drinks away for free

◻ Take extra water/drinks with you to a sporting event and share

◻ Pay for the person in the drive-thru behind you

A big thank you to Father Jack from St. Albert Catholic Parish for leading us in our Thanksgiving Celebration on Wednesday afternoon! We are so blessed to be able to share our celebrations with our local Parish Priest. Learning, knowing and living the Gospel is a journey we are all on. We pray that our students will learn the Word of God and use it in the world to make a difference!

We have been talking about gratitude and thankfulness this week as we reflect on our many blessings. Friends, family, pets, sports, food, activities - the simple things in life bring joy and happiness to our little ones.

It’s time to book your parent teacher interview for Wednesday, November 6 or Thursday, November 7th.

You are invited to the Kindergarten Celebration of Learning which will take place on the evenings of Wednesday, November 6 and Thursday, November 7, 2024. During the school interview time we will be having a “Celebration of Learning”. These are student-led conferences where you will come to school with your child for a 30 minute time block. Your child will take you through centres in the classroom showing and doing special activities with you. We have learned so much since September and we wish to share our accomplishments with you! T

Please book a 30 minute time block on Wednesday, November 6 or Thursday, November 7, 2024 to go through learning centres with your child.

Mark your calendars for our BK Halloween Family Dance on October 25- put on by our Friends of BK & School Council!

We are inviting students to dress in Halloween costumes OR Black/Orange on Thursday, October 31. We request that the costumes reflect the fun of the day, not be frightening to our younger children and not include plastic/face covering masks, weapons or props as these can be distracting and may get misplaced. Please ensure your child’s costume choice is in keeping with our Catholic values.

All Saints Day is celebrated on November 1st.

On Nov. 2, All Souls Day, we remember those who have died believing in the resurrection and in life everlasting.

As November is the month of Remembrance, we will have our Book of Remembrance on our front prayer table, starting on November 1, for students, staff & families to record the names of family and friends who have died in the past year.

We will also be creating a display in our school to honour our deceased loved ones. We invite students and staff to bring pictures (preferably mounted or framed) and/or small mementos of any family members or friends who have died. They will be reverently displayed and will serve as a reminder of these loved ones and our call to pray for them. Please write your child's name on the back of the picture or memento so that we can return them at the end of November. Please bring these photos to classroom teachers. Thank you!

For each calendar sold that calendar number/name will go into the draw pool. Each day in November a winner will be pulled and they will win that corresponding cash amount for the date. We will be having a contest for the classroom that sells the most Cash Calendars. Details coming soon. Please share with your family and friends!
