GJPS Preschool Weekly Update

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! My name is Missy Grimmett and I am the Coordinator of our preschool program. I am thrilled to be a part of your students preschool experience this school year.

I have two kids, Ina who is in first grade and Hoben who is 4. Hoben will be attending our preschool program this school year in the afternoon!

I will be sharing important information and updates with you throughout the school year through weekly newsletters.

AM Session (3-4 year olds)- 8:30-11:15 am

PM Session (4-5 year olds- must be 4 by August 1, 2024)- 12:15-3:00 pm

Required Preschool Forms for Licensing

Medical Statement: This form needs to be completed by a doctor.

Forms need to be updated every year.

Immunizations and Tuberculosis Policy

Ohio Immunization School Law requires that proof of immunizations for every student be on file at the school within fourteen days after entry in order for that student to remain in school. Preschool students are required to have the following immunizations: Varicella (chickenpox), DTaP/DT, Hepatitis B, Polio, MMR, and HiB. Students may be temporarily excluded from school if proof of immunizations is not provided. The district’s Tuberculosis Policy indicates that students that have lived in or visited any country outside of the United States for more than 3 months are required to have a tuberculin skin test. Students MUST have a note from a healthcare provider before starting school.

An open house will be provided to our families ahead of time to meet our staff and see our facilities. Please plan on bringing any forms that need to be submitted during open house or on your students first day of school.

Please limit the number of visitors that come during open house and staggered start to help with spacing/parking concerns.

Open house hours:

AM Session:
Child’s Last Name (A-M) 8:45-9:45 am
Child’s Last Name (N-Z) 10:15-11:15 am

PM Session:
Child’s Last Name (A-M) 12:30-1:30 pm
Child’s Last Name (N-Z) 2:00-3:00 pm

Your family should have received a staggered start date for your student through your personalized email.

August 19th: All enrolled PEER MODEL students will attend on this date.

August 20th/21st- All enrolled STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES will attend on one of these dates.

All preschool students start on August 22, 2024.

Your child will be getting a color-coded wrist band and a car/bus tag. Please do NOT cut this off your child's backpack. This assists our staff with arrival and dismissal procedures.

Your child will be getting color-coded cards with numbers that you will be required to bring each day to pick your child up. We will be checking these cards daily, so please remember to bring them!

Our preschool will be using Talking Points to message/communicate with your family. I will be posting messages through Talking Points and sending it through School Messenger as a second form of communication. Your family will not need to sign up for this. If you have students in multiple grade levels, this communication platform will be used district-wide to help centralize communication.

Our preschool licensing rules require us to have an updated medical statement on each student after EACH annual exam. The medical statement form is attached below. Take this form to your child's yearly exam to have completed by their pediatrician. If you need a form sent home, please let us know and we would be happy to print and send it home!

Forms will be sent home next week for returning families to indicate if your child's medical statement is expired, will be expiring soon, or we do not have on file.
