Riverside Marching Band Invited to London!
The RVHS Band students is one of the 20 US Marching Bands invited to participate in the 2025 London New Year’s Parade. Letter From Loudoun Symphony Association
Dear Mr. Anderson,
Good afternoon. My name is Kellan Hogye, and I'm a member of the Board of Directors for the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra. I'm contacting you to send our congratulations to three Riverside students -- Sabrina Lu, Samantha Widjaja, and Lavanya Joshi -- for participating in our One Planet, One Community event by contributing artwork to our gallery and concert filmography. Samantha's work won third place in the grades 9-12 category, and Lavanya received an honorable mention.
The One Planet, One Community event, which took place on Saturday, June 1, at Ion Arena in Leesburg, showcased the artistic talent of Loudoun County and celebrated the power of creative expression to bring us together. A collaboration involving the Loudoun Symphony, Ion International Training Center, and Loudoun County Public Schools, the program included an orchestral concert featuring selections from Holst's The Planets and popular sci-fi film and television themes, ice dancing performances by professional skaters and Ion's figure skating student program, and a collection of artwork by LCPS students and local artists.
We would like to thank Sabrina, Samantha, and Lavanya for being a part of the big show! I have included links to digital images of their artwork here so that you can share this information with your school community if you choose. We will also deliver their awards to your school.
- Samantha Widjaja, "Our Shared Harvest" (3rd place)
- Lavanya Joshi, "Mother Nature" (Honorable Mention)
The full online gallery of artwork, artists' statements, and contest winners is available at https://www.loudounsymphony.org/art-gallery.
We're grateful for our partnership with LCPS for One Planet, One Community, and we look forward to continuing our work together in future years. Best wishes for the closing weeks of the school year!
