It's HOCO Week! Daily Dress up days, GLOW IN THE Dark Pep Rally w/DJ and NEON CLASS COLOR WARS, Game Night where we crown our king and queen, and mum and garter day with lots of PHOTO OPS!
A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy Sunday GRHS Longhorns,
It's HOCO WEEK! Check out the visual of all the fun opportunities that Student Council has planned and even working this weekend to make happen for you! Tomorrow is DECADES day...what decade will you be repping? I will have my 80's jams blasting loud and clear from my "BOOM BOX" in the front foyer in the morning...come see me! Now to find my leg warmers, Walkman, and Aqua Net! I bet you don't even know what those things are :) Shout out to Mrs. Claudia Torres, STUCO Advisor, for all her hours of hard work as well!
We are kicking off the second six weeks this week! Final first six weeks report card grades will be posted in Skyward on Thursday. As always you have 24/7 access to grades by logging into family access to check progress and stay on top of your assignments!
*Please keep in mind that this year is DIFFERENT than last year, as you do not have a "midnight" extended due date. What is assigned in class is DUE in class or by the due date that your teacher assigns. If you have been out with COVID or on COVID protocol for close contact and you are in "remote conferencing" you are still expected to complete the work. Some of you are just logging in for attendance with the remote conferencing teacher, but have failed to complete any work in Canvas, and have not once reached out to your teacher for assistance. Please note that Canvas tracks your time on task and if you are just logging in with the remote conferencing teacher, but not actually COMPLETING your Canvas work, you will have zeros in the grade book. This is not your teacher's responsibility to keep chasing you down. UIL eligibility rules are real and very specific, if you do not stay on top of this and fail a class, you will be ineligible to play or participate in sports and fine arts! Let's not let that happen. We need you!
Shout out to our amazing PTO and GR parents for always coming through big for our staff! You are nothing short of GR-eat! You found the way straight to our heart...make that sweet tooth! The “we made it” end of six week’s dessert bar treat was perfect! Did you know STRESSED spelled backwards is DESSERTS? You def did your part in lowering some of ours! Thanks again!
Due to security measures, there are only TWO doors open in the mornings at 7:30am.
- FRONT MAIN ENTRANCE
- BUS PORCH ENTRANCE
Lanyards/ID's should be on the second you step through the doors each day. Please make sure you are following this rule as well as being in dress code!
The front office is open Monday- Friday 8:00-4:00pm to assist you. You can also directly email us or call 832-223-4200 during the same hours. We are happy to help!

The Preliminary SAT, also known as the PSAT/NMSQT® (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test), is a practice version of the SAT exam. You can only take the PSAT once per year, and many students take the test in both 10th and 11th grade. If you earn a high score on the PSAT your junior year, you could qualify to receive a National Merit Scholarship—$180 million dollars in merit scholarships are awarded to students each year. The PSAT is 2 hours and 45 minutes long and tests your skills in reading, writing, and math. Unlike the SAT, the highest score possible on the PSAT is 1520. For our 9th graders, we offer the PSAT 8/9 to start preparing our students for the PSAT/NMSQT.

GRHS VS PEARLAND and TRAVIS
The Longhorns JV Black Team took on Pearland Dawson in a rematch from a couple weeks ago. The Horns took the contest 24-14. Offensively, Kurveon McNeill, Malachi Montgomery and the Montez brothers took the reigns of the offense in the first half. Defensively Keshaun Burton and Dylan Kenningham made tackles all over the field. Braeden Vann forced two turnovers, one of which was a pick six that help separate the Horns from the Eagles.
The JV Maroon Longhorns took on the Travis Tigers Thursday Night. They won the game 19-13. Offensively, Derek Watson found running lanes behind a game Longhorns offensive line. Defensively, Henry Chukwu and Colin McLemore helped keep and explosive Tigers offense at bay.
The Longhorns took on the Travis Tigers Friday night and were defeated 33-29. Offensively, the Horns were able to move the ball down the field but came up short in the final seconds of the game. Cole Murphy continuously hit receivers Joseph Wilson, Gregor Jones, and the Kiser Twins. Defensively, the Longhorns fought hard against a physical Tigers offense. Judson Mixon, KJ McGuire, and Matthew Lambert worked in unison to contain the Tigers. The Horns play Fort Bend Austin for our Homecoming game next week as they continue district play.
Baseball
This week’s George Ranch Off Season Player of the Week is senior infielder Jacob Steuber. Jacob has been working hard since we returned from summer break and leads by example on and off the field. Congratulations, Jacob!
